Why Are So Many Ignoring This...
2257 deadline for submission of comments to DOJ. Am I off-base? I worry for ya's that this has the potential to hurt many GFY-ers significantly. Am I (and the other few) trying to alert ya's mis-directed, or are many here sticking their heads in the sand and "hoping" the "new/pending" 2257 regs won't cause them the MAJOR problems that I am concerned about (for ya's)? Time to stand up and be counted is almost gone. DOJ could bury you because of your silence?? Don't YOU want to help YOURSELVES???

I will submit comments.. where do I send them to?

Everything you'd need (addresses, email addy, suggestions, etc) is found at www.freespeechcoalition.com . I also faxed mine today to DOJ at 202-514-1793 dave |
I chose to ignore this because I'm an asshole.

Thanks for fighting the fight Dave. |
Unless any such disasted as North American union happens, I will just sit back, enjoy my beer and worry not about 2257 at all.

Did I read someplace where someone thought that even foreign content coming into leaving America (or was it American content being licensed to non-American countries?) would also be affected?????? Anyone else recall anything about it? dave |

Posting comments is stupid unless you want to give the DOJ a target. Hire a lawyer, which 99.9% of the people here can't afford to do. This will be hashed out in the courts. Comments won't do anything other than bring unwanted attention to you and your company. You wants to make a difference, install a democrat president. They don't have to pander to evangelicals to hold office. Democrats hate porn as much as the rest, but it isn't their priority to keep some bible thumping congregation happy. |
Sorry people on gfy are currently too busy with the torrent site and tube site bashing bandwagon. Most of the current contracts with me are for torrent and tube site bandwagons...

Vital is right (yet so many GFYers are NOT recognizing it -- it could hurt them and their income down the road, I'm afraid). dave |
Fuck it. They won. As an adult "secondary producer" affiliate - they beat me into completely into submission.
I've been slowly moving out of this cursed industry into pure mainstream. By the end of this month I should be just about done with the transition. I'll continue getting residual income and renewals and referrals, but aside from that, I'm done. |
First off - posting on here you are already watched by the government. You don't think they love to read webmaster boards and use the information in court against us? Not only that, everyone here brags and says what they are going to do - you mine as well call every department in the government up.
It is totally frustrating to hear webmasters not give a shit about things or feel that not doing anything is the way to go. Stating that one president (R) is all the blame is short sighted, considering that many presidents including (D) had their hands in all this too. What you fail to see is that we are the last few groups that are being stripped away of their rights. So bury your head in the sand or let someone else in the industry handle this is a cowards way out. To say you have no money for lawyers so 'fuck you' I can't do anything - is also cowardly since you do not need to pay a lawyer to write a letter or call to speak your mind as to what the real webmasters face. Thinking if you don't speak a word and stay under the radar is helping - well - as said before - they watch these boards, so you already have spoken out and they know who you are. Dave and those like him are no richer or poorer financially than many of you - but they have deep pockets when it comes to fighting for their rights and liberties. Remember what an American much less a human being is these days instead of slandering others on the board just to get attention. If we were to take some of the hostility and anger we often throw at one another on this board and actually focus it on the government's desire to ruin this industry and our rights - then we may just be heard. The battle has already been won when an army starts turning in on itself and refuses to fight the real threat. |

2) Failing to comment on regulations that adversely affect your livelihood to the point of possibly putting you out of business is what one might call a bad business plan. And if you think they don't know who you are, rest assured, if they want to know, they can find out. Besides, by commenting on the regs, if they thereafter do come after you for some reason, you've got the defense that they're harassing you for your political views. But, of course, you're reacting exactly the way they want you to react: Afraid to defend your right to do legal business because they've scared you into thinking you don't have any rights. You do -- but rights are like muscles: If you don't exercise them, they get flabby and don't work anymore. 3) Installing a Democratic president is a good idea -- and currently 17 months away (15 to the election itself). A lot can happen in that 17 months -- like you and the rest of us being put out of business. That might not fit into your business plan. |
Wait to hear back from the fsc

I'm appalled by the meager participation :-((((.
You folks who HAVE submitted comments "Get it" --thanks! dave |
I wrote an email to the FSC with my thoughts so they could put it into writing for me and never heard anything back from them.

Final bump for this:-(
dave |
Unbelieveable how many are sitting by and chancing disaster and fianancial distress if the present DOJ proposed regs go into effect "as is" without the masses bitching via comments to DOJ TODAY.
I don't swear often, but all I can say is that the "sticking heads in sand" has been UN-Fucking-Believable. :-(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( (((((((( dave |
Dave knows how much I admire him and how much respect i have for his service to this country
However, Pardon me if I don't share his enthusiasm for handing over my name, address and weaknesses to "my good friend" the Free Speech Coaliton to hand over to an enemy who has vowed to destroy me. |

I'd hate to think that later Secondary Producer hassles might have possibly been lightened/eliminated/etc had I only spoken up by the end of the dealine on 9-10-07. Regards, Dave I Have no choice but try to defend GFY Secondary Producers--it's the right thing to do, just like me being a plaintiff for the 2005 FSC's TRO which kept Secondary Producers from ALREADY being subject to complying in the same hassling way as us Primary Producers already are burdened with. Unlike some, I recognize and appreciate what FSC did 2+ years ago on behalf of many of us:-)) |
Hope everyone submitted.

Now, if DOJ hassles Secondary Producers in the future, ya's have only yourselves to blame---it's not the fault of FSC that you sat on your hands, and ignored those of us CONSTANTLY trying to bring it to your attention these past 3-4 weeks:-(((. dave |
Mr Cummings I have great respect for you but you dont seem to understand the reasons all these changes were made is to fuck with us.If they got a million letters they wouldn't give a shit because there are Christian extremists that have full access to the white house and a great number of them also work for the DOJ. http://www.boston.com/news/education...an_law_school/ The reason for the changes wasnt to protect kids it was to give them more ammo against us, to scare the little mom pops out of the business. Also this comes from on top, for gods sake they fired two atty's because they wouldnt go after adult cases. The FSC shouldnt be worried about letter writing ,they should be putting 110% of their efforts in the legal battle that has to be won and if the legal minds they have arent winning its time for new ones.
|
Why Are So Many Ignoring This...
Because they really don't care! For them to care you have to put tits, or pussy in your post, and then maybe call them bro.:1orglaugh Don't worry, there are enough of us who can do the right thing to maybe win this thing. |

I DO understand, and I also understand that the future litigation will be stronger if FSC can point to considerable comments from within the Industry concerning the burdensomeness, and the many other aspects that some (too few, though IMO) letter-writers have addressed; the attorneys know what they are doing, and had FSC suggest our help, yet very few of us saw the need or just assumed that the radical religious type would continue to have the ear of the government. By the time this stuff gets to court, the democrats might be in power (after all, FSC can't file until the final regs are published, something that might not happen until 2008); the constitutional issues will be determined by the courts, not by the right-wingers. The courts will look at our issues and make decision--what a shame so many here didn't bother to write comments that can later be addressed in LARGE numbers in front of a judge. I fear that we have possibly shot ourselves in the foot by "giving up" now when it's a long lead time before this gets to court. IMO, our comments should have been numerous and recently submitted in order for the courts to have that input when the litigation is ripe. dave |

it doesn't seem like you were paying attention last time or fully read the comments and remarks |
Id like to point out here that I think the FSC really dropped the ball on this one anyway. The secondary producer thing is all fine and dandy but IMNSHO its the weakest argument of the bunch.
It seems to me the strong argument would have negated the entire law by simply saying how is someone supposed to be criminally held responsible for not being able to prove he didnt commit a crime that never happened. The whole idea is ludicrous as is the idea that they can enter my residence with no warrant and help themselves to information they can use to charge me with a crime. Had the FSC attacked on these levels I might be more supportive. But getting back to the matter at hand These regs have nothing to do with protecting children and everything to do with making it easier to came down on the adult industry without having to draw obscenity convictions, see it for what it really is people. Whether I deliver my name address and weaknesses to an enemy who has vowed to destroy me through a third party or whether I do it directly I dont see what difference it makes maybe they do have all this info already but at least I wasnt enough of a sheep to hand deliver it to them. As for Kernes thinking the Democrats will be our saviour...dream on Mark theyd sell out porners as quick as the republicans would. Maybe its time to become Canadian. |

I tried to help Secondary Producers, but many of them didn't do shit to help themselves by commenting---I am very disappointed, and this might be the last time I bang my head against the wall. I previously and VERY actively also supported the fight against .xxx---make no mistake about it, Industry comments to ICANN and the VERY positive lobbying by FSC's Diana Duke and Jeffrey Douglas in Lisbon DID indeed save us from the disaster of .xxx, and the aforementioned action of letters and FSC can't be overlooked by lazy haters who look for bombs to lob at FSC while they don't even contribute in any way. I guess I'm not only disappointed, I'm starting to also feel upset. Goodbye:-((( dave |
WHAT?????
Did I read that right? The FSC saved us friom .XXX nonsense....our comments to ICAAN saved us the FSC didnt even get involved until the last minute...early on they wanted to sell us out to ICMR for 8 dollars a domain....The FSC saying they killed .XXX is ludicrous. |
