Is there way to downgrade from Vista to XP?

I had to say goodbye to my old friend "averatec" , and going to buy new laptop tomorrow. I don't like Vista and want my old XP back. Is there any way to do it?

You have to reinstall from scratch. However, you need to make sure that there are drivers for your hardware to work in XP.

Long story short: Rent a nerd for a day. :thumbsup

Buy one that has XP.. some stores are still trying to liquidate the pre-Vista models...

no you can't

and I just got a computer for my dad that had only xp hardware, there was no drivers available for xp for lots of the shit

BUT, if you got a vista preinstalled machine you can call microsoft and they will activate xp for you since you had vista

I looked, looked and looked. 2 month ago I bought one from Dell for my wife and it came all juiced up. they had XP option.. i guess they built it for someone else and had XP on it.. or whatever. but they don't have those any more and she won't give this one back.

I can guarantee you if it works in Vista, there are drivers for XP. Outside of DX10 video cards(which still work fine with XP and DX9) Vista hasn't been out long enough for the manufactures to start pumping out Vista only hardware.

Drivers may not be on the XP disk but you can find them on the manufactures website, the real manufacture not the company that built the computer.
You need to know exactly what you have and download the drivers before you format and install XP. XP isn't going to have default drivers on disk for newer hardware.

we got an acer aspire with vista like 2 weeks ago and it didn't have video, network or wireless drivers for xp when I reverted back....I had to contact the manufacturer about the drivers and 2 of the manufacturers got them created in a week or so, but the video drivers have yet to be created for xp on this particular machine

What's the video card or mother board model number if it's onboard video?
