I'm a broke 20 year old college student.

Please of you have something to say about me say it here, but first let me tell you about myself: www.calmdev.com/about/

I'm Broke as a joke. 4k In credit card debit, no cell phone, 9K still owed on my car. I even host my website from home.

I'm also a flake.

I have a 20 dollar bill burning a hole in my pocket that says if you can suck my fat, stinky and greasy cock off in less than fifteen minutes, you can keep it.

I have a feeling you will be hanging with Jackson this evening providing World of Warcraft online is having some downtime for maintenance. :winkwink:

I have money in my epass for you, if you would only make an effort to reach me, plus have a few people looking to order, but the code needs to be fixed.

If you want money, i have it.

nico-t 09-01-2007 04:33 PM

what the hell is that site about? wtf is a loader?

stev0 09-01-2007 04:36 PM

Your site is slow as hell.. u should get a cheap dreamhost plan or something at least.

fris 09-01-2007 04:37 PM

damn first time someone is turning down money

Jace 09-01-2007 04:38 PM

well, i doubt anyone can feel bad for you

fris is offering you money

I was ready to pay up to $10k to get that one job done

you can't seem to finish or start anything that involves you getting paid

Will Black 09-01-2007 04:40 PM

we's was all borok at some point bros

RazorSharpe 09-01-2007 04:50 PM

I gave up on trying to contact this guy. I tried once, a long while ago and then recently when he made a thread about needing a job. He seems to come on here, moan about not having money, needing a job and when people offer him work he doesn't get in touch with them. Won't be bothering with him again ...

tehHinjew 09-01-2007 04:54 PM

wtf!!!

im 19 years old

at one point i had 35 cents in my bank account

i now have 8 sites out there and i have some what to go out and enjoy

why are you people giving him money

gtfo

give me money

kthxbye

calmlikeabomb 09-01-2007 04:58 PM

No one is giving me money. In fact I'm a flake and don't like to work.

Dude, 35 cents is sooo much money!!!

I have like negative $14,000

Why do you find it so difficult to contact people who could help you pay your bills?

KimJI 09-01-2007 05:19 PM

calmlikeabomb: Swallow your pride and accept the offer Fris is giving you. Fuck the drama, its useless. Get real and do whats expected of you. It will help your financial situation and self esteem.

KimJI 09-01-2007 05:22 PM

Learn from the situation and move along

scottybuzz 09-01-2007 05:24 PM

get a proper job!!!!!!!!!! go work at a shop or something.

scottybuzz 09-01-2007 05:25 PM

IMO its hard to be broke while on the internet. First of all you have a pc, that can be sold, wham at least a couple of hundred bucks in the banks, also you save your net subscription at like 30 bucks a month. big savings, then you go out a get a job.

debt after 2 years should be over. problem solved.

WarChild 09-01-2007 05:27 PM

Yeah I don't get it. Fris seems like he wants to get something done, and he's offering you money which apparently you need... What's the problem?

calmlikeabomb 09-01-2007 05:29 PM

Thanks scotty, it's smooth sailing from here on out - thanks to you.

I'm on my way to the riches now. I knew GFY would help me bank once I began to apply all of the wisdom I absorb from here.

Thank god for GFY.

you sound bitter ....

calmlikeabomb 09-01-2007 05:50 PM

RazorSharpe - Yeah, you're right and I also sound like an idiot for putting myself out like this in public, but I'm keeping it real, which is a rarity on GFY.

I don't think I contacted you, because if I remember correctly in that thread I had about 10 other people who asked me to get in touch, which I did and didn't receive a single chance at a job nor project.

Sorry man, but I gave up after being turned away or ignored by everyone who asked me to contact them. It's really discouraging. That's why you never heard from me. If you had an opportunity for me, I'm sorry and didn't mean to be disrespectful.

Now, I feel my options are

A) Start coding only for myself and start a website.
B) Code open source projects and hope for donations.

you must have contacted people who left messages after mine because if I remember correctly, I was one of the first to leave a message for you. I don't think or feel that you have disrespected me, I simply think that you are selling yourself short and giving up way too easily.

A) to code for yourself, you'll need a bit of a bankroll to get you through the months you'll spend coding and not earning.
B) most of the people coding for the open source projects have full-time jobs.

...

calmlikeabomb 09-01-2007 06:05 PM

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I honestly don't know what I should do at this point. The only thing that makes sense to me is to stop posting and do my own thing. Even though I'm young, I always find myself reflecting back and wondering if I could have spent my time elsewhere; improve the quality of my own life.

fris 09-01-2007 06:09 PM

i got money for you, but you seem not to care

calmlikeabomb 09-01-2007 06:19 PM

fris, I do care, but imagine if we start distributing that CMS, and it really takes off. There is no way I alone would be able to provide tech support, especially @ 50% profit, and people treat me like shit around here, my good name would be fucked into the ground even further.

fris 09-01-2007 06:52 PM

i would be handling all the support, people have tried to order, thats almost 2000$ right off the bat.

Just the demo isnt working, and trial version, and i cant make a new media page on my site, little things that need to be fixed.

All this work has gone to waste now, and nothing to show for it

J4ck 09-01-2007 07:04 PM

Dude common!

take your courage and work!

i'm 24 years old, i'm an full time daddy living alone with a son aged of 22 months,

got raketed a lot of times in my naivity while trying doing nice business.

Now i'm home, having about 6 sites and earning money by my own doing home jobs, contracts, websites etc...

kick your butt up dude...

DomP_nl 09-01-2007 07:09 PM

listen to jace and the others man, swallow your pride and fix things

or take the script and code it yourself and sell copies... supply support for an extra fee...

calmlikeabomb 09-01-2007 08:40 PM

There is also $3,000+ in the ticket support system waiting...

All that stuff you're talking about does work. Plus, I've added a lot more media functionality, it's really nice, it's hard to keep GUI documentation, program the CMS, provide support, go to college full time, pay bills. Yes, you need an update.

If you want to handle support I'll make an admin; set you up with email. There's alot of reading that you'll need to do and some tickets I haven't been able to reply to.

Just a warning, SJoamce people get all pissy when you take interest in a project then; don't have time for the work, because of a current work overload.

I have been working on a website (2 weeks) that is much nicer than the demo, haven't received any money for it yet. There is a lot to show for it, but there is also a ton of work to do. Besides the GUI docs there is no other documentation. There needs to be a written API for the template system. There's a lot of work. As time goes documentation needs to be updated, bugs need to be fixed, new features have to be coded; added into the software package, manuals, etc. It's fuck load of work to do; I'm the only one who can do the stuf f that doesn't pay, without distributing source code to other programmers. I don't have the time to program software and produce income by being a dedicated webmaster.

If I didn't want to work I wouldn't have spent a month on the project; being broke; earning no money; look at the good guys like TooMuchMedia.com. It takes an entire team to produce great software; the software is worth every single penny. This type of quality can not be achieved by a single programmer. Especially one who isn't making any money ( wish is discouraging); and is in college full time, trying to make good grades; produce great software.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I don't need money for when the software is complete. A software is never completed, people always want something different or unique; Sure we have the 1 click template tag installs, but (and here comes that API thing again...) unless you understand the underlying object orientation of the system you can't modify tags or create your own with any type of dynamic functionality; let alone take advantage of the built-in scriptaculous web 2.0 capabilities; did you even know that was built into the template system?

I need funding to keep working on the CMS; Otherwise, this is what we deal with - Yea, let's hire the guy who hosts from home; has no phone and doesn't know how to start or finish a project.

No, but I could make it open source.

nico-t 09-01-2007 08:47 PM

your problem? your fucking mindset. You're looking for people to work for - WRONG! You need to work for yourSELF. Be an affiliate and fuck working for others.

tenderobject 09-01-2007 08:53 PM

man sorry to hear that! start coding for yourself if you have funds to sustain monthly bills and shit. that sucks though! finih the cms and update the scyrpted cms as well :)

hope things gets better witth you and fris.. swallow the pride do your work!

calmlikeabomb 09-01-2007 08:59 PM

Tender, yes that's another thing I need to do.

The guy running scrypted was suppose to take scrypted off-line December of 2006, I told him to stop selling my software cause I didn't want the partnership anymore. Instead he decide to just block my home ip. I can still access http://www.scrypted.com/ , but only using a proxy.

Guess I'm just losing money left and right as an adult programmer...

Sad thing is that software hasn't be updated in over 9 months and people still talk about it. I wanted to convert all scrypted users to jfcms.

SomeCreep 09-01-2007 09:36 PM

congrats

Madame0120 09-01-2007 10:21 PM

Yawn ...

* Get a job.

Everyone was a broke 20 year old at one time.

fris 09-01-2007 10:24 PM

what is your DEAL?

first you say your broke and need money, next you are turning shit down, make up your mind.

Ignoring msgs is just stupid

mattz 09-01-2007 10:26 PM

his hosting got cut off, his phone got disconnected.

hes in debt.

did you read?

Blue Player 09-01-2007 10:33 PM

I took a look at the sutff on your site and think you are a very capable coder.

You have just taken a kick in the balls and are down at the moment. Seriously I know you will pick yourself up with your ability.

Personnally I would finish off the stuff for Jace and Fris and get that cash. Atleast you wont be broke then.

datatank 09-01-2007 10:35 PM

Release if open source on that google code thing. Get a bunch of other guys adding stuff to it.
You can always charge for plugins, mods and themes down the road

Bree 09-01-2007 10:46 PM

these peeps have good sound advice..

Stop thinking inside that rat hole and get out and DO something.. can't sit and say "I can't.. [for whatever reason]...

Do what you can to immediately bring in some $$ ..

Good luck!

fuck that sucks man! update the scyrpted cms and make a new name. i still love how the site works although the updates and some bugs dissapoint me :(
but i would still ant to use scyrpted or a new updated one for my site.. i think its much easier for you to update scryted cms change the name and sell it for a good price so people who want a model directory site can use it.. just let the jfcms a different one and for another market. scyrpted cms is very good and userfriendly thats why i love it so much. hah i keep on asking you the upgrade for the script i haven't launched the site :( hope you can find a way to rebuild the script, improve it and make it different to jfcms. i think that would be nice... i still want the scyrpted cms for my domain but i want to use jfcms as well for a new project. you know the drift :)

Bro Media - BANNED FOR LIFE 09-01-2007 11:54 PM

jfcms is a good script man, just keep trucking!
