Actually this reminds me of watching tv comedies with people. I like to watch cheesy tv sitcoms with rooms of people and quietly observe the people in the room more than watch the show.
Notice on the shows how it is obvious when a punchline is going to hit. The typical 30 minute comedy, like Frasier, Friends, Will & Grace or any of the other 50 carbon copy shows is the same. Every 20 to 30 seconds HAS to have a joke that the laugh track goes crazy on.
Now watch it in a room and watch what everyone does. They all laugh every time on cue. But the REALLY fun part is to watch them laugh because they know they are supposed to laugh but have NO clue what they are even laughing at.
Many times I've seen a friend bust up right on cue with the laugh track and the punchline, and I asked what the funny joke was, I couldn't hear it. Neither could they. Many times I have asked and they couldn't even hear the punchline and couldn't tell me what the funny joke was because they didn't hear it either, but they busted up laughing with the laugh track all the same.
To me THAT is comedy. Sorry for the rant but it strikes me as interesting, especially since I can't find even a shred of humor in that link :)
