"just remember no matter how bad it gets or how down you are
someone out there loves you, and they care about you, and they're coming to look for you,.......they just can't find their keys to their car."
:1orglaugh there's this guy that we know that lives(semi homeless), in the gas stations surplus soda room on the corner in hollywood. they pay him to clean up the lot and such, and my friend gives him food and stuff to help him. he thinks he is superman. no seriously, he thinks he is superman. he manufactures a solution to protect himself from kryptonite made from papaya juice and bud light, which he mixes in a cake pan and leaves to freeze in his little room. one day, my buddy, who is the one who made the sex toy commercial, was outside his place and going through tough times, and the guy busts out the quote to him above. last night my buddy brings it up again in idle conversation, and i can't get it out of my head. no idea why i cared enough to write it here, i just think its comical. :2 cents: :1orglaugh |
Now, that is funny. I'm gonna have to put that on a t-shirt.

deep down you probably want to help the guy, but like too many of us, you turn the other way and just hope he dont ask you for any money. he is most likely very mentally ill and could use help, but the way this world works, people like him either die on the street or someone takes care of them. |

there was a time around 2000-2004 when i was djing downtown a lot in dan diego's gaslamp district that i was living the high life and eating expensive dinners who the club owners and shit before gigs that i would make people box the extras and we would go around and give it to the homeless in downtown. the city has run a lot of them off with the new ballpark coming in and such, but in those days downtown was a really tight knit area and everyone knew everyone and such and so forth. what is sad is that you can't help everyone. that sucks. the superman guy i am talking about, my buddy always helps him (i dont live over there), and the gas station takes care of him too. one time he ran away because he's loony and all and had delusional thoughts, and the gas station guys went looking for him and brought him back to the shed so he had a place to stay. i have to admit that some of them here in l.a. are scary and aggressive and if you don't help them, they cuss at you. one time i tried to give a guy some untouched, uneaten on leftovers from a restaurant all bagged up nice and shit, and he said "i don't want that, you got a couple bucks for a 40 ouncer?" i'll give em food and try to help, but if they just want to get loaded, i don't want to contribute to their problems.:) |

My old office was on La Brea and Hollywood...It never ceased to amaze me the sad amount of homeless and downtrodden LA was able to generate. You would see the usual faces day in and day out through the office window, but new comers all the time, truly depressing.
Only so many people you can help, and moreover even fewer who put it to proper use or are even genuinely appreciative experience has taught me. Perhaps its a degenerative outlook, but its real. I'll still toss a few bucks from my car window to help someone panhandling on the freeway exits and such... but it's tough not to become immune to the depravity of the situation. |

it may sound funny in the end but it's always true... :) |

So, basically he is saying that they aren't actually, "coming to look for me?" Now I'm really depressed. |
