They have alot of TV shit also for bodog... Thats REALLY gotta hurt. The new owner should toss up some sorta page tho.. There should be a nice spike in traffic from ppl going over to look.
|
Damn thats crazy.. bodog is huge
|
jesus fucking christ !...changing links now !!!!!!!
|
Domains can be used to satisfy a judgement
somebody send this thread to: http://evanradio.com/picslink/yougotserved.jpeg |
another example of patent abuse run amuck and costing someone a lot of hard work on a bullshit technicality.
hey if you can't build it yourself, just steal it. I don't know why the hell bodog wouldn't have changed their registrar to a non US based one if they knew this was coming... |

They can run. They cannot hide. |
I saw them heavily advertising whenever I watched poker on TV..

Am I mistaken? |
Pwned! And that really sucks balls for them.
|
|
Damn that sucks for them.
|
i cant believe the new bodog owner is just letting it dead end instead of selling the space.
|
Wow, the new owner should at least start pointing all that traffic to a PPC landing page, gambling traffic is worth a ton. As for Bodog, they were pretty stupid to just ignore a suit like that.
WG |
Whoever now owns Bodog.com is an idiot - they could have a few gambling affiliate links to other poker rooms & sportsbooks and be making a fortune!
|
I am surprised someone can hold patent on something that is considered illegal.
Isn't online gambling illegal? |

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2002/09...r_domain_name/ The .com registry is based in Virginia, and at least for cybersquatting and copyright infringement cases to do with domain names, apparently that is all that is required. ICANN appears to be trying hard to say that there is nothing they can do, but I suspect that with enought pressure, the .com TLD could be forced to deal with non-responsive registrars, or potentially discontinue their registrar status. The agreement clearly states that the agreement is subject to the laws of Virginia, USA. http://www.icann.org/tlds/agreements...08-01mar06.htm Actually, I am more surprised that some smart lawyer hasn't gone after the .ORG registry for allowing thepiratebay.org to exist, considering it is certainly not a non-profit organization. |
damn, that's fucked...
|
I'm not too sure Enom was in the right there or being able to use the judgement to collect like that. They aren't a US company, he should have to collect from wherever they are.

Thanks. :winkwink::thumbsup |
all they should have done is send a lawyer to show up in court
they would not have had a problem... easy as that. |
That's horrible for the bodog company, damn

shit what a nightmare that must be.
|
Thats crazy, I was just watching their "Battle of the Bands" reality show.... I guess they are fucked!
|
this is bad for a huge gambling company....
|
I wish I could slap an affiliate link up and redirect it... yummy
|
Worst possible timing to with football season starting this week... As a long time player at bodog I must say the poker tables have been a little slow, however everything is still running. Many of the guaranteed tournaments have been pulled off the board though. Im interested to see how this one will play out. If Calvin steps foot in the U.S he will be immediately arrested, so how they will go about fighting this is beyond me…
|
ouch big time traffic loses..
New owner is damn stupid to no monitize this... damn .. now i wanna play poker :) |
They can't put anything at all on that site as it is against the law.
Right now all they can do is leave the site blank until Bodog pays them the 11 million they owe. The remaining money is for future royalties to the company that won the lawsuit. Basically Bodog can buy the domain for $11,000,000 if they want it, if not the company will just keep going to court and taking which ever domain bodog is using. The company that filed the suit had the rights to online gaming in some form. Hope that helps EPGScott |

Anyone here remember Calvin Ayre came to one of our Costa Rica Bash parties last year and had bunch of shots with us ? :pimp
Sucks for him, I hate people who take any little thing to court or sue people for looking at them funny. |
This will not hurt them so bad. The dedicated players will find where there money is and gamble there. They are already back up with a new site and can no doubt have more protection now hopefully not US registrar. Basically the big money players which is biggest % of profits will find the site.

they should have regged the domain in some other companys name and then "rent" it.
