At the driving range...is it normal for someon to ask to use your clubs?

so im there last night with the wife cause shes not quite ready for a course yet

so we are hitting balls..and this dude comes up and asks if he can swing my 3 wood

im like uh...ok

but then after i was thinking...what balls to ask that sort of shit

what if he busted it...would he have whipped out cash on the spot?

nope

is it normal? or was he just trying to mack in front of my girl..lol

D 08-27-2007 09:13 AM

Don't know what his intentions were, but that's not normal.

The clubhouse usually has clubs for people without to use.

yeah weird eh...he had his own clubs...and he was pretty good

had all his shit lined out in front of his bag..i bet he hits low 90's high 80's...he was good..but what balls to ask to use someone elses clubs

shake 08-27-2007 09:16 AM

I'd tell him no. Driving range here rents them for $1 each. If he can't afford it them toss him a buck and make him look stupid.

mattz 08-27-2007 09:17 AM

That's not normal at all, I've never saw it happen before

JA$ON 08-27-2007 09:17 AM

NO, NO, NO. Extremely weird request

Most if not all driving ranges offer golf clubs for rent. That guy's got the nerve to come up to you and borrow your set. Somebody must've dared him to do so.

Kevin Marx 08-27-2007 09:21 AM

very strange....... but then again, did you have a cool 3-wood that was test worthy???? I haven't asked to swing someone's club.. but I have asked to look at something I was interested in and then get their opinion.

Phoenix 08-27-2007 09:23 AM

exactly...it was cause he was korean...and with some korean guys and my wife is korean

fuckin balls..i shoulda said no to make him look like an ass....but instead i let him

then when he was pitching about 80 yards or so...i kept saying..a little to the right...no matter where he hit..lol

AmyAmy 08-27-2007 09:27 AM

You didnt know this guy? Seems very odd!

Brother Bilo 08-27-2007 09:31 AM

Asking a stranger at a driving to use their clubs is weird. I'd take a swing with a buddies club or something, but not a stranger.

fluffygrrl 08-27-2007 09:32 AM

Why do you need to ask if it's "normal" ? Did it bother you ? Don't lend it. Didn't bother you ? Let him have it.

What the fuck does anyone's oppinion matter, you're like the girl running to ask her girlfriends if it's normal to take it up the ass.

TubeTitans_SusieQ 08-27-2007 09:33 AM

That's actually a little weird, makes you think if he borrows it all the time from different people

WiredGuy 08-27-2007 09:33 AM

He was Korean? Yeah, he was trying to hit on your wife.

What he said.

ultimatebbwdotcom 08-27-2007 09:44 AM

I've had someone ask me to hit one of their clubs to see if I got the same results as they were (usually some guy who couldn't hit his 3 wood off the turf or something) - never had someone just ask to borrow something.

Hey, at least he didn't ask if he could play with your balls.

Angie77 08-27-2007 09:47 AM

Not that I go to the driving range often but I would have to say no. Not normal.

tranza 08-27-2007 09:50 AM

He probably wanted to buy a club like yours but wanted to give it a shot first..

:2 cents:

hardly morals, the issue at hand, no ? just say no if you don't want to, that's not rude.

esnem 08-27-2007 10:47 AM

brad that's like asking to use someone else's rubber

fuzebox 08-27-2007 11:28 AM

I would have said no. The ranges I usually go to let you demo if you're interested in buying anyway.

Damn it . . . hot coffee thru the nose sucks.

What a mess.

Beejeebers 08-27-2007 11:57 AM

I would have asked him why he wanted to first. Then if I liked the answer, I'd let him, but I'd ask to hit his too. Then I'd break his over his head before he got his hands on mine and tell him to go back where he came from. Then when his ninja buddies surrounded me and the wife, I'd whip out my gun and shoot them all in the head. If any survived the head shots, I'd stomp on their throats with my golf shoes to finish them. Then I finish hitting my bucket of balls but I'd use the guy's face as a tee.

But i'm kinda an angry golfer, to each his own.

JimmiDean 08-27-2007 12:03 PM

Should have hit him with it.
If its a friend sure try it out but a stranger tell him to go f#ck himself

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe the clubhouse didn't have the club you have and he has been looking at it for awhile. Not to say I would let him hit mine, but there could be actual reasoning behind what he did.

Semi-Retired-Dave 08-27-2007 12:44 PM

Very Odd..He must of really liked your club.

Ice 08-27-2007 12:48 PM

I got the Ping driver when it first came out and I had a guy ask if he could take a few swings with it. I didn't have a problem with it.

Raul_Mallcom 08-27-2007 12:54 PM

that dude must have alot of balls to ask to use your clubs!! i would have hit him with the club!!

Jimmy Rock 08-27-2007 01:08 PM

No way..thats weird

JuiceMonkey 08-27-2007 01:27 PM

its semi-normal honestly.. I used to go to the range daily.. and if you get talking to someone or if you have a brand new club.. but usually I am the one offering to let people try it out.. or vice versa not someone asking.

I've heard people asking to use a new club just to take a few swings with it and see how they like it.

It would be a very very bad idea to ask for my clubs.
