If you found out your BRO was stealing...

If you found out your "BRO" was working for a company and at the same time was promoting his own program(and using the affiliate db of the company he was working for), would you roll on him or just keep quiet?

baddog 08-26-2007 08:52 PM

hmmm . . . .

CaptainHowdy 08-26-2007 08:53 PM

To the lions !!

Spunky 08-26-2007 08:54 PM

I would defiantly seriously consider not doing business with him and keep quiet..I'm not a rat..they eventually hang themselves

What if you were friends with the people that owned the company that was being ripped off?

Of course that would be different and probably a tough decision to make but I'd make damn sure those facts were true,I wouldn't want to dragged in the mud in some lawsuit

fatfoo 08-26-2007 09:02 PM

keep quiet......

aico 08-26-2007 09:08 PM

Basically another leech from the swamp. I'd make sure the facts were accurate first - if so, dump him and let him know exactly why. Let the rope hang out elsewhere - they need to learn their own lesson and see shit start to float. It's part of a biz experience.

If it was something more serious and evidence existed - yep, would think about saying if it could cause serious harm to others.

The facts are accurate. I have url's of the sites promoted and the worse part of this is that "they" ripped their employers site. Their is plenty of proof, it just comes down to the question of losing a good friends friendship over doing the right thing.

And yes, I told them that what they were doing was wrong, yet they seem to think they are justified in doing it...

Tell no one and talk to him about double dipping.

Shit... site ripping together with the affiliate db starts to smell like fraud. You obviously know more than you are saying and that can make a difference one way or other. It's a hard choice ms - one way of looking at it - how would you feel of your friends thieved from you? They may not be the type of friends you'd want hanging around.

Sure.. they all think they are justified in doing it :) Got one now who is most likely to be serving jail time (tho over more serious stuff) - he still *wants to believe* he was justified in doing it. Tho he'd never dream of saying that in court - it's too ludicrous and the judge would prob double the sentence. It's simply a "justification" in their own minds :winkwink:

DaddyHalbucks 08-26-2007 09:39 PM

It could be a violation of federal trade secrets laws. I think the penalties are stiff.

Yes, you are right. I know a lot more than I am saying. The theft goes into six figures as far as losses goes not including; intellectual property loss, fraud, etc. I really don't know what to do. On one hand it sickens me that a friend could do this and on the other hand I don't want to be a RAT...

DaddyHalbucks 08-26-2007 10:06 PM

Also, talk with Juicy D. Links and A1REK about having him de-certified as a "Bro."

If you were a program owner, I don't think you would find this funny... :2 cents:

Semi-Retired-Dave 08-26-2007 10:16 PM

Walk him out the door, hand him has last check. Don't look back.
We work too hard to get to where we are at, and for someone you trust to steal from you, not cool at all.

Deej 08-26-2007 10:20 PM

Would you want to be told if you were the program owner?

Friend or not..

I think you know what youre going to do...

I think this thread is best served as a warning to that person... if thats not what your doing already :winkwink:

TampaToker 08-26-2007 10:25 PM

This is what i would do. I would confront the friend who is using the affiliate db and tell him he needs to confess to the other friend. Then tell him if he don't you will then tell the other friend. :2 cents:

Hell... not good man - and, who knows, but shit prob will hit the fan at some stage and from an angle least expected. You know more, but I'd be inclined to sit on this for a short while and have a think. It's also possible things can happen in that time without your involvement - the natural cycle would be to get more greedy and go for higher amounts before shit hits the fan.

Know what you mean by ratting - not a comfortable situation. Went thru that process and had plenty face-to-face "chats" and advance notice and can't say I give a damn now and got no regrets - tho it did take a lot of effort and time assembling concrete evidence for a judge. It was necessary to cut out the cancer and everyone who may have be "associated" in any way (some of it involved false contracts etc). Some of these folks are most likely totally innocent, but it's a chance not worth taking and better to avoid doing biz with them - they are not involved in any action - it's simply "association" more than anything. That is one reason to avoid "association" with problem people - it can bounce back on you tho you are a totally innocent party.

People choose the path they want to follow and nobody is keeping them from changing that - it's their problem. They also steal for many reasons - if they are simply broke - not such a big deal (tho stupid - all they need to do is ask), but when they organize blatant fraud thru nothing other than greed and harm others in the process, - it's not a nice picture and better terminated.
