RIP to the woman, and condolences to the family.

No the media just doesnt report it as top news when something like this that happens every single day to normal people. Win an oscar and they will tell the world, work at mcdonalds and you gets no play. This is the first famous person i heard of hitting someone.

Here in California we have the "Pedestrian right-of-way" law. At anytime, if a pedestrian steps off the sidewalk to cross the street.. ANYTIME.. ANYWHERE. All crossing traffic BY LAW is REQUIRED to stop.

Now the funny thing is, I was born and raised here and from what I can tell by the people I meet, it's just a California thing. I just assumed that was the law everywhere.

To enforce this ridiculous law, cops will often stage crosswalk traps. They'll put one cop on a corner dressed like a human, and right in the middle of the best flowing traffic of the day this asshole will step off the curb. And this is when everyone is flowing at a cool 35m.p.h. The moment his ham hock steps off the curb, and if you don't stop, motorcycle pigs come out of everywhere and nail you. And yes by my tone I guess you can tell I was victim of this awful crime, I mean trap.

The light just turned green and we all picked up speed and were all doing about 35 by the time we came to the next intersection. The cars were thick and just as I came up on the intersection, some asshole steps off the curb. If I had stopped I would have been rear ended. So I blew thru, nowhere near the doughnut muncher and just as I passed the intersection, I saw an armada of roller pigs just waiting to attack.

And did their stupid trap work? Apparently not, if people like the lady Singleton hit are still dying.

???Haley Berry ALWAYS gets in hit and runs.

Someone pulling out in front of you or walking into the street is something you just can't do anything about.

I know a guy who was driving a fully loaded gravel truck and a stupid woman who had three young children at home pulled right out in front of him.

yahoo-xxx-girls.com 08-25-2007 08:43 AM

I wonder how much damage to the guys vehicle ?

.

Furious_Male 08-25-2007 09:02 AM

Sad story. I have had people just step out in front of me before. I have always been able to stop. They glance over and just keep walking like nothing happened. Some people are clueless to whats going on around them.

-50 points for John Singleton, considering it was an old lady.

Sorry, but you are wrong.

That only applies to intersections, and even then, the pedestrian has responsibilities. I direct your attention to CVC Section 21950:

21950. (a) The driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to
a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk or
within any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection
, except as otherwise
provided in this chapter.

(b) This section does not relieve a pedestrian from the duty of
using due care for his or her safety. No pedestrian may suddenly
leave a curb or other place of safety and walk or run into the path
of a vehicle that is so close as to constitute an immediate hazard.

No pedestrian may unnecessarily stop or delay traffic while in a
marked or unmarked crosswalk.

Then CVC 21954:

21954. (a) Every pedestrian upon a roadway at any point other than
within a marked crosswalk or within an unmarked crosswalk at an
intersection shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles
upon the
roadway so near as to constitute an immediate hazard.
