Life after Death

What do you think happens to us?

Heaven, reincarnation, top soil etc.

Are you scared of Death? Or are you at peace with yourself and it doesn't bother you.

BJ 09-09-2002 09:27 PM

I think we enter an everlasting dream state. Heaven would be a good dream that never ends, and hell would be a nightmare that never ends.

Joe Sixpack 09-09-2002 09:28 PM

I think you die and are gone forever.

No Heaven. No Hell. No God. No Satan. No Soul. None of that bullshit.

I imagine it will be exactly like before I was born.

Nothingness.

Brown Bear 09-09-2002 09:29 PM

Nothing happens. You die....and thats it. Over. Done. The end.

On-top 09-09-2002 09:31 PM

Top soil.

edmo 09-09-2002 09:34 PM

worm food fuckers.
yes i care but there's fuckall i can do about it.

Danny_C 09-09-2002 11:03 PM

I would be pretty disappointed if I was still just me after death, and went to a happy place with golden streets and harps playing on every corner.

I'd also be disappointed to find out that all this was just created by some guy who wanted toys to play with.

I'm not sure why the idea of heaven is more bearable than the idea that we're all part of a great whole, and that when we die, we lose the concept of self entirely.

You know, life is energy, and that energy doesn't disappear after death. But consciousness of self obviously will. That energy is recycled into the food chain. Most people can't seem to handle that thought, but it doesn't scare or disturb me a bit. In fact, I think the thought is more liberating than the thought of spending eternity trapped in a land called heaven.

Mutt 09-09-2002 11:13 PM

it's all nonsense. Man has conjured up all sorts of stuff just cuz humans can't deal with the fact we're all going to die.
We're no different from the cows we eat or the insects we step on everyday. We got lucky, or unlucky depending on your point of view, to develop brains capable of dwelling on our own mortality.

Nobody can say for sure of course. It's why this question will be pondered by humans as long as this planet exists. Which probably the way we're going won't be much more than another century.

The thought of being worm food sometimes scares me but mostly i feel comfortable with the fact that death is nothingness. The world existed before you and I were born, people were living their lives, enjoying and suffering but it didn't mean shit to us cuz we hadn't arrived yet. Day after you die pretty much everybody but maybe two or three people will totally forget you and go on with their lives.

Now illness and old age is something worth being worried about.
That I don't want. A long illness with the indignities you go through, the depression and anxiety..........no thank you. I will definitely drink some hemlock if that happens. At least I hope i have the balls to do it, until you're at that point, it's impossible to know if you can do it.

Heaven / Hell
Who knows ?
However... I Figure...
(IF theres a heaven, IF theres a hell)
Which would you wanna go to ?

OK probably your immeadite answer is "Heaven"
after all thats the 'good' place...
No one wants to goto 'hell' do they ?
Why ? Fire brimstone, eternal pain and damnation etc....
I mean, in a nutshell, thats basically the deal isnt it ?
But who tells us that ?

Preachers, Ministers, Vicars, The Church etc...
Those with a vested interest...

But whos to say that to any of us, that would be the case ?
Imagine...

Heaven = Nuns n Vicars everywhere, bed at 7.pm sharp, and rise at dawnbreak 6.am Chuurch 7 days a week and no porn, drink or other 'Bad' stuff...
Hell = 24Hour free bars, all the sex you can want, no AIDS, Free drugs, No cosequences... PARTY TIME !!!

So, who still wants to goto heaven ?

But do I belive ? Nah FUCKIT... You dont remember not being born... So why would you know you were dead ?
Just a Pure and Absolute state of nothingness...
anyway, Back to watching "King Of The Hill" On Fox...

edmo 09-09-2002 11:55 PM

"I desire to go to Hell, not to Heaven;
for in Heaven are only hermits, monks, beggars and apostles,
while, in Hell, I shall enjoy the company of Popes, kings, and princes." -Machiavelli

Energy cannot be created nor destroyed...it only changes forms.

We are energy, a part of all that is.
When the body housing this energy, ceases to function, the energy it served as a vehicle for will return to the source of its creation.

This energy is what is commonly called your 'Soul'. And much like you now it is conscious of its existence...but its existence is on a scale and scope fairly unfathomable.

You are here because this energy within you has chosen to forget itself and become you in order that thru you it may experience 'Remembering' the is RE-Membering...or reuniting with all that is...and its source...

Think of life as recreation that is 'Re-Creation' of the only game out there......Life.

When you die, you 're-member' with what's really going on and will mostly likely think that it was so damn fun you'll do it again...all in the name of 're-creation'.

Its all up to you rogerv, what do you want to do when you're done here...

This is sooooo my favorite subject...

drunkdollars 09-10-2002 12:03 AM

HOAX can you please Re-member to Re-bill on clubdrunk when you pass?
And how can we make clones who will Re-member ti Re-bill on clubdrunk when they pass?

Personally I think you need to Re-think your Re-venue model...:Graucho

We won't know until we die.

The people who say they know for sure what happens are idiots. You can guess, but you will never be 100% certain

galleryseek 09-10-2002 12:10 AM

in my opinion, i think the wisest thing to do when it comes to ideas like these, is to not conclude any ideas. there are NO facts when it comes to what happens after death, because we're all alive, we've never been there. to conclude you KNOW we're just going to be "worm food"... or that we're going to a heaven or hell, is not very credible at all, because there isn't any proof. all we can do is assume, but never think you ..know..

Nothingness.

-=HOAX=- 09-10-2002 12:19 AM

Personally I find it very liberating to hold the ideas I hold...the way I figure it...

Your perception is Your reality...

If I live my life like my theory is true, and it is...I'm stoked. Great.

If I live my life like my theory is true, and everything just stops, then the whole of my existence, my eternity if you will, meaning all the time I could ever experience. Well then my theory is still true, because for the whole of my existence i lived my life according to this belief. Thus it dominated my eternity and is therefore, relatively, true. All things are relative.

And if I live my life like my theory was true and some vengeful diety will roast my ass for all of eternity...heck, at least I commited to something while I was around and had a blast with it.

I'd rather that than living life on the fence in some wishy washy apathetic state. Life is too short not to formulate a hypothesis and run with it.

drunkdollars 09-10-2002 12:21 AM

I think life is to short to form a hypothesis and run with it.

Do you say this just to be contrary, or do you just enjoy confusion? I think its fun to have strong beliefs, gives me a reason to tell people to go fuck themselves...

drunkdollars 09-10-2002 12:26 AM

I said that not about confusion but in terms of life is to short I dont have time to work it all out and even if I did work it out would I be any better off?

Oh and my theorys chage daily so to believe one thing does not work if I want to be true to my beliefs.

galleryseek 09-10-2002 12:27 AM

hoax, i wish i could be like you and have strong beliefs... cause it'd make life a lot easier. CONFUSION is exactly right. but i guess i'm not the type of person who can ...believe... one thing. sucks :\

I have had a "near death" experience. And if it is any indication of what it's like, then there is nothing to fear at all, and in fact is something quite good.

On the other hand, I had another experience, and if it is any indication, then it is something I am definitely afraid of.

So I am torn.

Some people experienced extremely horrific near death experiences. We often hear about the good ones, with the light at the end of the tunnel and the wonderful feeling.. But some other people really experienced "hell". And they are ordinary people. Trust me, those people don't want to die soon.

Yes, read my second paragraph of my post. I had both a good one and a bad one. Thus I am not convinced either way.

we're gonna go somewhere which we can't imagine right now..

the whole universe is bound by the rules of physics.. we can explain everything in existence with some scientific explanation.. thats why some people dont believe in god in the first place..

universe is not infinitely big.. do you wonder what is outside? nobody knows.. it's a place where our physics has no meaning.. its beyond our imagination..

Near Death Experiences:

I am skeptical about it, science and history have shown that human minds are easily manipulated. If you BELIEVE you will see a tunnel with a white light at the end, then most likely you will see this exact scene when you are in the state of "nearly dead".

Maybe your "energy" is released from your body and send to eternal dreamland like we goto when our brains are largely inactive. (sleep mode).

This will remain speculation obviously.....

ControlThy 09-10-2002 02:43 AM

This subject is just too hard for a human brain to understand, it wasn't built for these kind of questions. Certainly fascinating to wonder what happens with your identity, the one thing that makes you YOU.

TazBo 09-10-2002 07:31 AM

Well I really did'nt believe anyone of those near death experiences until the owner of the hotel I worked at as a kid told me a story. He was electrocuted and pronounced dead at the hospital. He was gone over 25 minutes. He told me the whole story with tears in his eyes. He said he saw his family at his bedside all broken up. He had left his pain behind and he said it was the greatest feeling he had ever experienced. But seeing his family like that made him fight his way back to the pain and he came alive. He said it was like swimming through the air back into his body. He was even in some books about the subject because he was gone so long. I think it was Death and Dying. Not sure. Anyway this coming from a highly respectable person made me think about it.

JFK 09-10-2002 08:14 AM

I believe while your Body may become recyclable, ( worm food) your spirit enters another dimention that is all around us. Being somewhat phsychic (or is that phsycothic)you do get the feeling there are other energies, spirits if you will, all around us.just my:2 cents:

In that case it will be Hell for me, because I have nightmares every night.

I never have pleasant dreams, never have, ever since I was a kid, have woken up in sweats at least a few times a week since childhood.

I figured it was visions and other prophetic insomnia related apparitions.

I often wonder why people see god as this supernatural diety outside of the universe. What if god or what we all percieve as a higher consciousness was these laws, I'm a very scientific person in many respects and I think many of our cosmologists and physicists are the priests of the new era for according to my beliefs, they are the ones truly searching for what god is actually comprised of...

salsbury 09-10-2002 10:45 AM

religion is about control. heaven was created so people had something to hope for after death. you better be good or you're not going to heaven! it's made worse by people suggesting that you have to pay money (Mormons and others) to be good people.

i say there's nothing after death. i am not afraid of death, although i'd like to clear up some of my financial debts before i go if possible. after i'm done with that i'm putting a DNR in my will/living will.

I sense someone around you .. does the letter J mean anything to you?

-=HOAX=- 09-10-2002 10:59 AM

Ok...I can't take it...I must babble...

Here's what I got so far.

In the beginning there was a single point of consciousness...it was all that was. Nothing existed outside of this point...well for ease of conversation I'm gonna call this point 'God'.

So this point knew it was all that is, but it had no way of experiencing all that it was...its supremeness if you will.

So. It divided itself into infinite pieces...it exploded...a "Big Bang" if you follow.

This big bang individuated all that was into an infinite amount of pieces of god...stars, planets, trees, clouds, etc...all that was or 'God' was still all that was...but now it was broken into many pieces...each capable of experiencing the interaction between the pieces, thus god could experience itself by way of interaction.

Thus the divine dichotomy was born, the frame of reference created allowed, god to experience itself as the totality of everything by way of duality, good bad, left right, up down, you me, etc...all these things must exist for any of these things to exist. Can't have light without dark.

ok...I lost my train of thought...hard to debate divinity and sling porn at the same time...
