I don't see how it could. All it is doing is trying to add an avatar-based system to what the 360 already has in place with Live. It's not even a game.

The July sales figures came out today and the 360 still outsold the PS3 in North America, even with the $100 price drop they had. And apparently sales of the 360 have almost doubled in August now with their price drop in place.

The PS3 is just too dam expensive, and they have no games.

the PS3 kind of reminds me of the 3DO systems several years ago. It was expensive, and it had way more power than anything else... but not many games, and even fewer good games. It eventually died out.

Same thing happened with the Atari Jaguar.

While some of this stuff is cool, I just want to play some kick ass games.

Give me more games and less clothing for my online avatar. Then they have a chance.

I don't think that the new "Home" interface, can hurt the PS3 because their current interface pretty much sucks.

As far as the system fading out, I don't think that it's gonna fade out any time soon. I'm seeing that they aren't pumping out a lot of exclusive titles which is definately hurting them. If they could've been the one system to have GTA, that would've helped, but now it's coming out on the 360, the same day.

Overall, it's backed by Sony, they dominated with the PS2 and I'm sure that they're not just gonna lay down and let their system die.

It's neat how they keep adding more to the system to make it more attractive to everyone, HOWEVER I believe it all comes down to games more than functionality, so they'd better work on getting some exclusive games :)
