Video editing software - what do you use/recommend?

What do you use - adobe premiere doesn't seem to support hd as yet, so what else is out there that is relatively easy to use?

Grapesoda 08-23-2007 04:45 AM

Vegas is SUPER easy to use. I taught myself how to use and people here seem to like what I do.

Put it this way.. if I can learn it, anyone can. :1orglaugh

I concur....Vegas Video is a non-editor's editing software. It's as full featured as high end packages and costs under 1000. I have a friend that uses Final cut, and I really could not see anything he does that is better than what Vegas can do.

Thanks for the replies everyone - looks like Vegas is the way to go.

@ redshoe - that is exactly what I was looking to hear :)

ALso found sony has dvd architect

Does anyone use this to create their dvds? Looks to be relatively easy touse in conjunction with Vegas.

cheers

Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 does indeed support hdv natively and also uncompressed hd if you have a fast enough computer and hard drive arrays since version Premiere Pro 2.

american pervert 08-23-2007 08:08 PM

final cut pro is the best software for the money

the author of premiere was stolen by apple to write FCP

Im thinking he was probably trying out the trial which does not support HDV. Cs3 rocks. Only problem Ive had with it is an unexplained crash during captures for some reason, so Ive been capturing in PP 2 till I figure out the issue. :thumbsup Than and my look suite / magic bullet plugins havent had an update to work with it yet.. :disgust

I gotta agree, dean capture taught me in about an hour. I never could learn adobe and I had 2 different guys try and teach me.

steved 08-23-2007 10:53 PM

I use Ulead Video Studio and Vegas Video sometimes.

I'm surprised to read that. I picked up Premiere in a couple of days with version 6.5 and one of the "For Dummies" books. I found it to be one of the most obvious interfaces of all the editing apps, and more or less same as FCP and the rest. Back then I think Vegas was on version 3.0 and I personally thought that app had one of the most clunky interfaces of any app I had seen, probably because it had been adapted from an audio editing app. I am sure Vegas is better now.
