Geat heads and hotrod enthusiasts here is my new/old ride

I have had this car for 22 years but it has been parked for the last 15.
Myself and my long time good friend just spent 14 months putting this back together.
1970 Chevelle SS LS6
454 bored to a 528 cage, fire systen, fuel cell, trunk mounted dual batteries, dual carbs, and just way to much to list.
Just got the apprailsal for the insurace company came in at 68k.
By the way I paid five hundred bucks for it in runing condidtion in 1985.:thumbsup

nice car, how did u keep it for so long and not just dump it in the trash?

JimmiDean 08-23-2007 03:40 AM

The car was something from my youth and always had potential to make a come back as it was stored inside for the whole time.
It outlasted many friends and my first wife.
It just seemed no matter who wanted to by it or how broke I was as a kid i just could not part with it.
Every where I take it now sombody has a story about some car they owned long ago, the story always ends with I should have never sold that car.
My current wife when we got the appraisal and then several offersl said
"lets sell it"
I told her it had outlasted one wife keep talking.
This vehicle will never be for sale.

Did you put hte inner guards back in or they're still out? If they're out, have you put anything in to act as a stone guard for the bonnet?

How long did you spend on the couch for that comment?

Nice car man :thumbsup

Sweet Ride....my brother has a 69' El Camino

JimmiDean 08-24-2007 03:19 AM

1 Left the inner fenders out and fravel guarded the inside of the hood.
2 Spent no time on the couch for the comment but I did not have to turn the airconditioning on for a few weeks house stayed cold on its own.
3 I do some work at the local college with automotive students so I do have access to a dyno came out around 790HP.
4 cage is a bitch to get in and out of but I used to race at the local drag strip so we decided to leave it in just a six point welded to the frame.
5 put in a full Halon fire systen, motor, drive and fuel cell as I caught fire in that car once and did not enjoy it, thank god for fire suites and gloves.
Trans is just a beefed up 3 speed auto with an airshifter and a Moroso rear end and strange axles, we even had to beef up the wheel studs to half inch from standard 7/16 as we broke four of them the first time we used the linelock and lit the tires.
