Wordpress enclosures
Who can explain them? I have one press release that whenever I look at the edit page for it I see tow enclosures in the Custom Fields, but I sure don't see it in the release itself.
What am I missing? |

See any enclosures? If I delete the two enclosure tags it removes the post. When I hit publish or save it returns with the tags . . . . but nothing obvious to me as what I have read the enclosures are supposed to be doing. |

Well, I look at a site that has the RSS feed and I don't see anything special there either. Is that because our RSS feeds only provide a snippet of the post? |

FANTASTIC! |

Here's the link to my second which is I'm guessing would be your first. http://ocaoimh.ie/2004/10/11/enclosures-in-wordpress/ Keep in mind enclosures can be dangerous since they access remote files. PS Hi. |

You can see the RSS feed at www.whitecheech.com I don't see the enclosure doing anything. I am probably glad about that, I just don't "get" why it is deleting the post if I delete the custom field, but throws it back if I save the newly edited post. and hello |
I think wp is putting the whole post as the enclosure information. So deleting that removes the entire post.
I'll do a quick test to see what it's doing and how to remove it. |

See the headphone icon with the file test.mp3? That's the enclosure. Does the post you have include a link to an audio or video file (any media file)? if so delete that link, then delete the enclosure, then save. That should fix it. |
As I suspected the above worked. I deleted the enclosure test post in case you didn't see it yet and were wondering what the hell I was talking about with the "headphone icon".

Sorry, dinner was delivered so I missed it.
They have no links in the post. They have a URL, but did not include the html to actually link it. |

Upon investigating the feed: http://www.pradult.com/feed/ There is an enclosure in that post. You can see it by looking at the feed. Remove the following block of text or modify it and remove the avi file links. Quote:
That's the problem and the solution. |

and thanks |
Now I need to decide if this is a feature we want to leave enabled or not, and if not, how to disable it.
Thanks again. |

I don't think you can disable them without modding wp a little. I would simply disallow links to media files in the press releases that are submitted. |
Not sure why I did not see it then . . . oh well.

In ie the enclosures are listed next to the comment feed link at the very bottom of the post. |
