So I asked theplanet nicely for a $10 freebie...

...and they said no. I've paid them over $16,000 since I've been a customer, but a freebie worth $10 (that's a ONCE OFF charge, not monthly) isn't doable. :1orglaugh :helpme

hehe I host with Phatservers, if I'd ask for that it be considered as done

I think $16k means nothing for them, unfortunately the bigger the company the less they care about their customers.

Another host I had some issues with (none directly threatening my income - it wasn't downtime) gave me a $600 credit as compensation. Now THAT is looking after your customers.

I got about $25 back from theplanet once when my servers were down for a couple of hours. :1orglaugh

They just upgraded one of my HDDs for me for nothing. Sorry about that, I ate up their "Freebie Budget" for the day.

How did you manage that? I had a minor argument with them several months ago when they wanted to charge me $60/mo for a 200GB IDE HD, which turned out to be a consumer model that was worth something like $80 to purchase. They eventually changed it to $200 once off.

I bow to you!

My host gave us an extra HD the other day for nothing :)

It's been having issues and they stalled in getting it taken care of for me. I spent a good chunk of yesterday on the phone trying to get things straightened out.

Today I got notice that it was being taken care of (and upgraded on top of it), and as of right now...it's been finished up.

my host just setup openads for me...free (hosthead) I know openads is open source but their guy installed it and showed me the ropes.

nice:)

zand_stein 08-22-2007 03:43 PM

hahaha...... not even reach a 10% discount for that freebie....

The secret to getting a little love from the planet is to have a sales rep there. I personally deal with Doug Jackson. He gets shit done and never treats me like a number.

candyflip 08-22-2007 06:29 PM

I'm pretty sure it was Doug who got things taken care of for me in the end.

why don't companies get that these little things make the customer happier than anything else?
i read http://www.serviceuntitled.com/ a lot and it's kinda sad how lots of big companies always miss that little chance to make the customer happy for ever... :(

TondaB 08-23-2007 09:53 PM

We pride ourselves on customer service. Out of curiosity, what was it you were asking for?

I wanted to change from 10mbps to 100mbps port speed for a month as I'm currently shifting a lot of data between servers. Pretty silly that they refused, because I'm still going to be transferring the same amount of data regardless of the port speed.
