How goes it

Do you have access to chemicals? There are some really fun things you can do, but most aren't easily improvised.

One fun thing to start off with just Salt Peter (KNO3 - Potassium Nitrate). Mix it one part with two parts sugar and light it up. It's the best smoke bomb you can make. You can get salt peter at any drug store. If you want to spice it up, try throwing in some aluminum powder or iron filings. Copper sulfate will make the flame blue.

Be careful about using things that will contain any pressure. If you do this, or start playing with gun powder or anything, use model rocket igniters and keep a very safe distance. I know a few people with missing fingers and such from this sort of thing.

Another fun thing is to try and make your own homemade gunpowder (Salt peter, charcoal, and sulfur).

The biggest bang I was ever able to make... bigger than a lot of high explosives, is this:

In a 2L pop bottle, mix a little chlorine bleach and hydrogen peroxide. This produces oxygen. Then drop a few small bits of calcium carbide into it and screw the cap on fast. When mixed with water, calcium carbide produces acetylene gas. You now have an oxygen / acetylene mix under considerable pressure. Shoot the bottle with a .22 or have a fuse very tightly sealed on the bottle. A model rocket igniter siliconed into the cap would probably work nice too. It's quite safe when it blows (keep your distance), but holy crap it's loud!

I used to put everything on fire when I was a kid, I still like the fire!!

potassium chlorate and sulfur.
Just mix the two together, stuff some in a capsule, and drop a rock on it.
Makes a helluva bang.
Pure iodine (crystals)
Mix with ammonia.
Pour resulting liquid on a piece of blotting paper.
When it dries, it will start to spark, bang, and pop all by itself.
Nice purple smoke too!

Those are two of my favorite formulas from when I was about 13.

I used to be such a little pyro, i remember attatching like 100 match packs together, lighting them on fire and watch the huge flame. i must have used my dads entire collection back in the day. :1orglaugh

I used to make bolt bombs and gradually moved up to pipe bombs..buddy had 3 fingers blown off and stuck to the ceiling crimpimg a end of a copper pipe in a vice..that was the end of my explosive days

take a 2 liter plastic bottle, fill about 1/8th of it with draino or muriatic acid
twist up pencil sized pieces of aluminum foil
drop them in, put the cap on it .. shake it up and get rid of it

make sure you're not around it a few minutes later.
