DMOZ and AVS sites

does anyone know this?
am i allowed to submit avs sites on a daily basis to dmoz? let's say 5 of them?
of course all of them in proper categories, clean and whatever.

i am sure some editor is reading this board.

thanx.

I'm an editor for a very small, obscure dmoz category that will remain nameless. :)

If they're all distinctly different sites, meet the criteria for the group, and you submit each of them once, it's cool.

If you submit them over and over again, that is not ok, and you will need to RTFM. That's a big category, so there is backlog, but it's not as if submissions just go away. Editors have tools for checking redundancy easily, and oversubmitting is a violation of dmoz guidelines, and constitutes editor abuse.

thanx fnet, i dont want to abuse the system and according to your post i assume that i can give it a try.

i guess as i get 5 sites listed at avses these sites may be qualified as dmoz sites also, and however, if some editor does not like my site, it simply wont be listed, but i wont get penaltized.

thanx!

How come you guys never update sites when I request them I turned a AVS into a TGP and its still in the adult check category

DarkJedi 09-09-2002 02:36 PM

because most of the editors list their own sites and dont give a shit about others :1orglaugh

There are 50,000 dmoz editors. Shall I answer for all of them, or just for the editors you think I am? It's an open, volunteer project, and I have nothing to do with those categories.

As long as you submit to the proper category. A lot of adult webmasters aren't careful about that. Many are painfully incognizant.

That gets checked, and you're expected to maintain a ratio of control in your self interest (*minimally*: 1:10 edits | self:others). The meta editors are pretty ruthless about that sort of thing- new volunteers are cheap.

The project isn't trying to find purely objective people, but rather people who make a usable catalog. I don't envy the editors with huge categories, nor do I have time become one of those guys.
