Are we closer to time travel becoming a reality?
Quote:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/...achineoutlined As a kid, I like many others had always been fascinated with the concept of time travel. I don't seriously believe it's possible, but there's always that proverbial 9-10 year old kid in me that has a slight glimmer of hope.... |
If they ever invent time travel, then people from the future would've been visiting us since time began.
|
Never gonna happen... :2 cents:
|
fly over to Bulgaria, that's like going back 20 years
|
lets hope they dont try this on our planet..and go off to say alpha centauri and fuck up their space time
|
I time travel every second. Going this way -->.
|
Not gonna happen, ever.
|
How I wish...
|
Never gonna happen..
|
I've never understood the fascination with time travel... even if it was possible it would fuck up way to many things.

Maybe aliens.. 'they grays' aren't aliens.. maybe they're super-advanced humans from the future.. oooohhhhh. Maybe jeebus was an alien who was a human from da future... oohohhhh |

To those that are saying "never," I wonder if you truly recognize how long "ever" really is or have even a basic understanding of relativity... science that's less than 100 years old... which is not even an eyeblink in the span of "ever." |

It'd be during the time-line of the machine's existence, not the method. If you were, in the future, to invent a machine to travel back in time, then yes... you'd only be able to (in line with this line of research) travel, at earliest, back to the date the machine was created... but if you were, in the future, able to develop a method to use a black hole to travel back in time, your earliest limitation would be the beginning of the black hole's existence. So (again, in line with this line of study) the method can post-date the length of your arm's reach back in time provided you're using a machine that does the same. |

If time travel was possible, it would mean that the future would be written and we would not be the masters of our lives. :2 cents:
Pretty hard to believe unless you are an X-Files tv lunatic :2 cents: |

The ability to shift time in the future might not necessarily have any bearing on this timeline, as any effects from said traveling would possibly/probably exist inside another temporal paradigm. |
I'm traveling though time right now... gfy is a fucking "time machine":1orglaugh

I smoke a ton of pot which makes shit feel slower, therefore pot is a time machine of some sorts :2 cents:
|
Maybe yes..

Probably wouldn't have done you much good... I can barely read my own writing, at times. :winkwink: |

I did a semester researching quantum entanglement as it relates to superluminal communication, and got to peek at what some of the graduate students were doing to link it to time travel and quantum teleportation. |

what do you think Aliens are ? |
LOL -- I didn't bother to read further down, as I assume it was just going to be people blindly agreeing with who, without having even a passing guess at the science behind it.
I see you did a great job of making the same points, D. :) |
Maybe they've already invented the machine in the future, then someone travelled back in time and killed the guy responsible, so we'll never know until it's time to do it all over again....

this thread is both brilliant and retarded at the same time.

It's nearly always good to hear a confirming voice, though. if you're ever in L.A., look me up - we'll spend an evening getting sloshed on fine beer and discussing the implications of dark matter and the unified theory. :thumbsup |

or we are living in a simulation which explains why there are not time travelers or time travels are forced out of reality the moment they enter it. |

it's always interesting to hear theories on time travel |

Oh I wish it were possible. All the things that I would change and ppl I would help.
|
I've always been interested in time travel also...However, I am more interested in the possibility to reverse the aging process in humans...
That would be much more plausible and could be realized within my lifetime. |

Who's this "we" who would benefit from it? Any real discovery along these lines would but closed out quick by government, or the elitist rich. |
It would be so dangerous.

To the star up in ethereal heights A path so far to stray, Thousands of years might have its lights Been wandering ītil today. Maybe it perished long ago Its way down through blue space, This moment yet you come to know Its shine upon your face. The icon, gently soaring high, Of that star, now long since dead: Could never spot it while alive, Now gone - we see it yet. (Mihai Eminescu - To the star - 1883) .. uhm, I guess it's sounds better in the original language.. :ugone2far |
Let me know if it becomes possible. I'd like to go back in time, maybe to 1992, and register some domain names.
|
I've got some Microsoft, Apple and Google stock I need to buy as well.
|
soon you'll be hearing.......
When are you now?
agreed: we are (very likely) living in a simulation which explains why there are not time travelers |
