Florida man trades missile launcher for shoes at local Police gun/shoe swap
Police in Florida were hoping for a good turn out in their recent "Kicks for Guns" program. The program lets people turn in weapons for sneakers. Police were not expecting the weapon one man turned in: a surface-to-air missile launcher.
"I didn't know what to do with it, so I brought it here," said the man who brought in the 4 foot long launcher and exchanged it for a pair of Reeboks for his daughter, "I took it to three dumps to try to get rid of it and they told me to get lost."
The man was not identified but told a local newspaper he found the item in a shed he demolished. The police collected over 250 guns at the event which were all exchanged for $50 gift certificates or sneakers.
