I gave a few of those away as gifts at shows a couple of years back ;-)

Sturdy and if you rub them really hard and fast they turn into a suitcase.

I live in California, and there's actually a law against selling things made out of kangaroo leather here.

really?! is that an ignorant hippy thing?

I love hippies & I'm all for animal rights, but Kangaroo's are used entirely, no waste - skin for leather & meat for restaurants & export if its shot correctly or used for dog food otherwise. There's also lots of restrictions about how they have to be killed.
