Giving away free VOD time (like AEBN).. What's your experience?
 

I thought one of my AEBN theaters was an anomoly.. I push the free time signups and it has almost 3x as many members as one of my other theatres (that I don't promote free time for) but it's only made maybe a 10th of the money.. I have another newer site where I also push the free time and it's membership is growing quickly but it hasn't made any money yet.

So now I'm starting to think that giving away free time is a bad idea. What's been your experience?

I have two FPA's that promote Yappo.com (a VOD program) ... I'm not trying to plug my own program, promise ... but something I noticed as well.

On one FPA it had 10 Free Minutes and the other one it had 100% Free Access for part of its talking points. The amount of free joins with 10 Free Minutes was incredible compared to 100% Free Access, however the joins generated from 100% Free Access had a higher join value.

You have to look to see how the free joins rebill. After I did the math, I realized that the free joins will produce more money ... even with a lower join value.
