just buy a 200 gig drive for $50, copy everything over, and problem solved...

that's what I'm thinking of doing.. Would make things much easier. Of course, I will wait till my house sale goes through. When that happens I will be buying a new hard drive, a liquid cool kit, more ram and a few other things. I will use the new hard drive as my main so I won't have to back anything up since my current hard drive will just be a spare and already has all my shit on it.

will probably get a 500/750gb hard drive

HDs are so cheap nowadays.. should have just bought a 500giger, cloner the drive then format... move everything over. Sure beats wasting 8 hours and forgetting to back up something.

Always keep your OS on a separate drive, programs and all the other shit can be installed on different drive(s). Once you get your OS and everything setup the way you want it, just image your main drive. Makes recovery a snap.
