Content Producers to Gather for Anti-Piracy Discussion Roundtable created as a call to action, organizer says. By Bianca Fox Posted: 3:34 PM PST Aug 17, 2007 UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - San Fernando Valley adult-content producers will join for a roundtable discussion about their fight against piracy at 7 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Sheraton Universal Hotel. The gathering, hosted by Shane's World Studios, will include adult-content owners, distributors and producers from all over the country. They'll discuss the issues that have concerned them most: piracy, bootlegging and illegal downloading. The discussion also will include lawyers, anti-piracy advocates, and intellectual-property and copyright specialists. "As content creators, we all sit around and complain about the effects of piracy," said Megan Stokes, vice president of sales for Shane's World Studios. "This industry is deteriorating from within by other adult businesses supporting these types of companies in the form of advertising and financing. "The history of adult is [that] we don't come together. We hope to change that and make us a stronger and more effective community. We must address these issues seriously if we intend to protect our futures. We've had enough, and we're going to try to put everyone together in a room and hash it out." Airek, Shane's World Studios' head of Internet operations, agreed. "Illegal distribution of copyrighted materials [has become] too much to bear, and it's time to do something about it," he said. "Increasingly, DVD bootlegging, torrent, tube and password-trading sites, among other avenues of distribution, are becoming plague-like and will soon overtake legitimate avenues of content distribution if something isn't done now." Studio representatives and content producers wishing to attend are asked to call Megan Stokes or Airek at (818) 717-8851 or send e-mail to [email protected]. |
Press Release Attached
For Immediate Release From: Shane’s World Studios August 17th, 2007 Major Adult Studios form Anti-Piracy Round Table Chatsworth, Ca - Content producers all over San Fernando Valley announced today that they are stepping up to band together in the fight against piracy. “Illegal distribution of copyrighted materials has became too much to bear and it’s time to do something about it! Increasingly, dvd bootlegging, torrent, tube, and password trading sites, among other avenues of distribution are becoming plague like and will soon overtake legitimate avenues of content distribution if something isn’t done now.” Says Airek, Head of Internet Operations at Shane’s World Studios. An industry roundtable discussion is being held in Universal City, California, where owners, distributors, and producers of adult content all over the country are invited to come together to discuss the issues. “We feel strongly from a studio standpoint that this needs to be a grass roots oriented, not for profit and piracy defense association built from within the industry. No one looks out for your interests more than someone that is affected by the same issues. “, continues Airek. “Having an anti-piracy association based and formed from within the content industry just makes sense.” This roundtable is NOT to solicit donations, it’s to come together collectively to discuss steps of action. The event will be held at the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Universal City at 7pm on September 5th, 2007 and will be attended by the who’s who of adult production studios and distributors, legal advisors, anti-piracy advocates, and others committed to the cause. The discussion will address the core topics and proceed with the next steps in forming the association. “This industry is deteriorating from within by other adult businesses supporting these types of companies in the form of advertising and financing. The history of adult is we don’t come together. We hope to change that and make us a stronger and more effective community. We must address these issues seriously if we intend to protect our futures.” says Megan Stokes, V.P. of Sales for Shane’s World Studios. “We’ve had enough, and we’re going to try to put everyone together in a room and hash it out on September 5th, 2007. This is a call to action!” Studios and content producers wishing to attend may contact Megan Stokes or Airek at Shane’s World, and can be reached by calling 818-717-8851, or emailing [email protected] or [email protected] . |

Regarding the Piracy roundtable meeting. Would you be able to adress the issue about AVN being in bed with Adbrite, who make a huge profit for the torrent sites? or is that to far away from the focuse of the group?

Is This The Same One Free Speech Coalition Is Invoved with?
If this the Same One Free Speech Coalition Is Invoved with, I will try to make the meeting ----I hate that 5-8 hr RT trip between San Diego-La-San Diego, but I hope to be in that audience!!!!!!

i say this with the utmost respect, many people do not want fsc heading up something like this. this discussion is merely that. we are going to discuss the issues. many feel that fsc should stick to 2257, and that they have their hands full with that. many also feel that those directly faced with the threat should be the ones that are responsible for banding together to fight the threat. where we are experiencing friction is within the politics. if at all possible we are attempting to avoid the politics and concentrate on the core issues. we could easily end up with two anti piracy efforts. ours has support verbally and written so far, and i am quite sure the fsc will have no issues drumming up support if they so choose to. this is all still new, so lets see what happens. :thumbsup |
I'll be there!
