I'm not a financial wiz - but it does seem like a knee jerk reaction to the fed lowering its rate - and only to institutions - it wont filter down to Joe Average and as far as I can see its the 'sub prime' borrowing that is the issue.

There's still going to be a lot of market volatility for a while, mostly cos the banks are affected by all this too, and they are generally safe bets.
