CD is 25 yrs old today. Happy birthday!
Has it really been a quarter-century since the first compact disc was pressed, finally freeing us from the infernal routine of rewinding our mix tapes?
Well sure enough, Philips was kind enough to inform us that its very first CD rolled off the production lines on August 17th, 1982, which history will forever remember -- perhaps unfortunately -- as a copy of ABBA's The Visitors. http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/16/h...-compact-disc/ :D |
Congrats man we were born in the same year :thumbsup

I am old because I remember the big deal. I remember them saying they couldn't be broken by a train and somebody in our local paper going nuts because he put one on a train track and it broke.

A new movie was about $79.99. I also remember when a Calculator, a very basic one was $80-$200+ depending upon the kind you bought. A credit card sized calculator could be $50-$80, and then one day I was at a store and saw them all in this huge bing 2 for $1.00 But I also remember when gas was 19 cents in the early 70's during the price war :) |
25 now??? Fuck, I am really old...
|
Hmmm my first CD...
I think (don't hold me to it, though) that my first ever CD was Bon Jovi's Keep The Faith. |
In fifteen years your life's about to end.
Life begins (to end) at 40. Happy birthday man. :) |

ABBA was the first CD? What kinda practical joke is that? |
I can remember when my Dad bought one of the first cars that came with an 8-track player already installed - we were SO cool :)
My mother STILL has the HiFi system my parents bought back in the late 60's. She's had it completely redone where now it's a CD player but it's an impressive piece of furniture so she's kept it, lol. |
I didn't get a CD player until the mid 90s. We were still using tapes.

I would put new electronics in it in a second if it was still around. |

My first CD was SLAYER Reign In Blood...I had worn out the cassette....then, I slowly started converting everything over...damn double dipping...
|
I can't even remember my first CD. My first "adult" (meaning non-Disney or, if anyone remembers "Magic Mirror") record was a single of Maggie May. My cousins and I had ALL the Partridge Family, Archies, Osmond, Bobby Sherman, etc. albums.
Damn I'm old :) |
