I want a dog thats a not too 'gay' but is fairly small......
 

Pit Bulls and shit like that are banned here - so nothing like that - but I don't want to be mincing up and down the road with a poodle......

I want something that needs walks but not a sheep dog or something that needs miles every day.

Are Jack Russels too "gay"? Like Eddy in Frasier?

I was gonna say Jack Russell but have never owned one myself, I think they're fairly hyper.

My wife got us a Pekingese. I thought they were gay until I got to know it's personality. It's a great little dog.

Look into getting a Mini pincher. Looks like doberman pincher but its not, its not even related. Its a terrier. Very smart little dog. Just shares the same appearance. BUT you can also get solid brown or rusty red color if you dont like the look of a doberman color....

I also was gunna say jack russel if you can handle a dog with two speeds, sleep and warp.

Otherwise an english bulldog maybe?

I have a cairn terrier. Like toto from wizard of oz. fantastic personality, but does have some energy.

I have a Min Pin, smart but stubborn. he has a collar with huge spikes on it, it looks hilarious on him.

we have 3 Miniature Pinscher Dog or Mini Pin. they are cute and hyper dog as well. :)

If your not dead set on a specific breed, just go to the pound or any other animal shelter you can find and browse around till you find a mutt that will suit you.

here are my suggestions
1. cairn terrier - way fucking cool dog and smart as a whip
2. boston terrier - my little sister and my mom both have them and they are great

if you want a sleeper. you know lays around.
basset hound - I don't think I've ever seen one move more than 3 ft at a time without taking a nap.

don't get one of those JRT's unless you plan on running everywhere bent over with your ass in the air and your hands stretched out screaming come to daddy baby! come to daddy baby! come to daddy baby!

Man, those dogs are bastards. I know 2 different people with miniture pinchers and they are the definition of ankle biters. Always growling and nipping at me. Fuck those dogs.

So true. My dog Max is a freakin genius. Lets see...last night he went nuts barking and protected me from a pillow. He thinks the ice dispenser is his own personal treat machine. He loves ice. And this morning when he climbed in the car for me to take him to get his makeover, he wanted to drive. I had to get a treat to get him in the passanger seat, and then had to fight him for the keys.

Like I said, lots of personality. I absolutley love that dog.

Think I will go for the Mutt option......

good decision, I rescued a 2 year old retriever about 8 months ago and it was the best decision I made...but be prepared that it may come with baggage...mine was severly underfed and abused so make sure you have patience.

dude, i had a jack russell when i was ten, i had a german shepard approach me to play, that german shepard is now missing an ear (well for the rest of his life) jack russlles are very much UN GAY

they are also one of the most active and hyper breeds around, and unless you have a lot of space for them to run around or time to take them on long ass walks they arn't for everyone.

My buddy has one and she is incredibly cute and fairly social, seems to get along with my retriever...but i dont think she realizes shes a small dog...

Oh geeze, if you really ARE gay, then a pug is a must :) After they're about 2, they sleep a lot. When they are 15 (my oldest) they sleep all the time ;)

No way. I want a big dog that I can play around with without worrying about it breaking. That's what's cool with big dogs.

Both of my dogs are mixed-breed rescues. Check-out your local shelter(s) website and make note of some of the available dogs kennel numbers so it's a little less overwhelming when you go.

And don't limit yourself to shelters, check local rescues, and online classified ads where there are often desperate people trying to find new homes for pets before sending them to the pound.

Oh, and a spiked collar will make any breed look like a badass:winkwink:, just focus on finding the coolest dog for you:)

:thumbsupDefinitely Bostons! I've got three, they're full of personality but not too hyper. Not yippy little dogs, but they let me know when someone is near the house. And no grooming other than a quick bath when they roll in the dust. Would recommend the breed highly :thumbsup

How small do you consider small? I would go to your local shelter & pick from there.

BTW - Jack Russell's are smart & VERY hyper.
