Comparing The Porn Industry with the Fishing/Forestry/Mining Industries
 

Or any other resource industry for that matter. I was just reading Cyberage's post about free porn, we gotta stop giving it away, etc...

Made me think. Porn sites have been around for 10+ years now, and frankly we've used a lot of the same tactics the fishing, forestry, and mining industries have used. They only clean up their act when forced to "control themselves" or face steep fines, lawsuits, criminal charges and whatnot.

Overfishing, killing endangered species, clear cutting, retreat mining, etc.

These are all unsustainable practices designed to take as many profits as possible - with no care about the results, and what's left for the next guy.

Isn't that pretty much what's happening here? The only thing that has stopped the above industries is governmental control. That for our industry would be the end of our industry. So what's left to do?
