Which is today's best digital camera?

I'm looking for opinions for both digital still and video cams. If you had a shopping spree at Fry's; which ones would you choose for shooting content?

I own canon bodies and lenses so I am biased... but a digital SLR with a good collection of lenses from Nikon, Canon, etc... you will do fine.. it's not just the camera.. it's the photographer.

I own 2 Canon GL2s.... working towards a Panasonic HVX-200 for our HD stuff... keep it lighter, your arm will thank you for it.

great cameras available these days, but i dont think they sell them at Fry's, try BH photo instead.. Nikon D2X is great for me. Canon also great, I use their GL2 for video, perfect porn video camera, lightweight with great video quality.

Question: I am interested in improving the sound quality recording on GL2 video, anyone have suggestions? prefer attached mic..

Ditto.

Go to EVS or someplace like that if you live in Cali.

I went with a Canon EOS350D but invested in good lenses (20mm f/1.8, 50mm f/1.8, 17-85mm f/4-5.6, ...)

Well, I would want the best quality images originally. They can always be down-sampled... video too. Thanks for all the opinions. I'll keep looking into it.
