BMW 5 Series - Worst Crash Test Rating!!
The 2008 BMW 5 Series was the worst performer in new side-impact crash tests of luxury sedans by the insurance industry.
The Acura RL, Kia Amanti and Volvo S80 all earned the highest safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, according to results released Thursday. The Cadillac STS and Mercedes E-Class earned the second-highest rating. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070816/...h_tests_sedans |

Kia has come a long ways, but I wouldn't buy one now. I'd let them prove their line more, at least a few more years of tweaking their vehicles.
Shocking about BMW. It makes me reconsider my interest in that line. I have always liked Acura. The Audi A8 used to have a superb safety rating. Is it still highly rated? |
I'd still rather choose BMW than KIA...
|
can't believe it!
|
Unbelievable, sucks for BMW.
|
BMWs are sportive cars. It should be safe ... I don't understand why it got these results
If I would have to choose from a BMW and a KIA I will choose for sure the BMW anytime ;) . |
UnFUCKINGbelievable KIA is better than BMW, it's some kinda of anti pr
|
KIA Beats BMW? WTF!!! :Oh crap
|
um...whats so surprising? it's crash testing not lap times

Look at the low end Kia and Hyundai cars now. Even the Accent/Rio come with standard A/C, airbags, heated seats, blah blah blah AND a 10 year warranty. The comparable GM car costs more and offers less. |
That's bad news for BMW....
|
Oh.. what a car.. BMW looks better but I still go for KIA..
|
why do you laugh about KIAs ? korean cars from year to year better and better and as you can see their cars can beat cars like Mercedes or BMW.
|
"The BMW 5 Series starts at $43,500" < WHAT?
$85,500 up here... everything is so fucking cheap in the US :/ |
It wasn't the typical side impact test they normally do either. It was one to simulate a truck or SUV hitting a car. That's going to change the results quite a bit. It's good they're doing those kind of real world tests now though.
