Who is responsible for the rise of Torrent and sites giving porn away?
Stealing content on the Internet is easy, in fact we make it easy and do nothing to stop them. Also we do nothing to stop them when they do steal it.
Putting up a site I suspect is something any programmer could do. Getting hosting is easy. Getting people to advertise and support these sites is easy. And most of all getting traffic, the King for so many, is the easiest part. So many do not see how it's done you have to ask yourself what are they thinking. Getting traffic on the Net is easy, too bloody easy. The tough part, for many, is getting enough to sell to one person a product that clearly the vast majority are not interested in buying from us. Most sites selling porn memberships will be lucky to convert at 1-500, leaving out the micro niche sites with low traffic, and I suspect the industry average is much higher. I would imagine converting a surfer to a bookmarker on a Torrent site is a lot lower than 1-500. And that's the key to their success. The surfers prefer them to us. Don't tell me it's because it's free, thats a poor excuse for losing customers. So why have we lost the support of our customers? After 10 years of building a product that suited us, over charging the customer at best and at worse ripping him off, of thinking the customer is a fool for buying, thinking he wants to charge back, trick us, download our whole site and every other thing we say about him. What the fuck are you thinking of? There's a thread on this board that illustrates the real problem, about who do we respect. Some listed are responsible for building the product we have and do not deserve our respect. The person who we should respect is the last one we think of. The customer. Now we are all screaming because sites are stealing our customers. They are not stealing them, we do not own the surfer. He's choosing to go see porn on a crappy mish mash of a site at a crap download speed, shit resolution because he prefers it to what we are offering. Maybe if we had respected the customer more we would have more of them. |
you say the same thing over and over again just with a different thread title

i realise everyone has an opinion , but in my opinion most of what you wrote is wrong and has been pointed out and and again..
it is hard to find sponsor for these types of sites thats why flind or aff appear on 90% of them.. most pornsites offer more content for cheaper than any average person could buy locally ( i.e. dvd's porn mags" even with the cross-sales ) people bookamrk torrent sites because they are free , no other reason. and on and on.. |

Or do you think we should say nothing about losing the customers willingness to buy from us? |

Ratios are not what they were 10 years ago because there are 2500 new programs and an endless amount of paysites. Before there was torrent there was p2p kazaa, morpheus which was covered in the same shit. People are still openly buying porn as much as before. Larger programs are not doing anything about torrents for the simple reason as it does not hurt their bottom line enough to really take action. |
You always toss out 1-500 as a conversion ratio, all the time 1-500.
You cannot look at overall conversions these days, that's moronic to say the least. You need to address each type of traffic separately to really gauge how you are doing. Are you 1-500 on blog traffic, 1-500 on SEO, 1-500 targeted niche specific traffic, 1-500 on tgp traffic, 1-500 on mgp traffic, 1-500 on exit traffic, 1-500 on freesite traffic, 1-500 on linklist traffic, 1-500 on seeded traffic? Each is going to convert highly different lumping them all together and saying 1-500 is not getting anywhere. |

Yes we are cheaper then DVDs and Porn Mags. But tap water is cheaper than bottled, a BMW is cheaper than a Ford and a Prime Aberdeen Angus fillet is cheaper than mutton. What do you choose? Paying for something that meets your needs is something we all do everyday. Paying more for something that meets your needs better is always the chosen route. The problem is we sell a product that suits us before the surfer. Torrent sites have a better option. The average surfer wants 20 minutes of porn, we forced him to buy 30 days. Without all the other things we did that alone was selling what suited us, not him. The hard to swallow truth is, if the surfer wanted what we were selling him he would not be walking away. |

What is your actual research and facts on this? Torrents are FILLED with spyware, adware, viruses, etc. Most of the time if you download one thing you get something else. Download asian, and get fat black chick. Porn sites still do very well, you toss out all these facts, what programs besides your own that does a significant amount of joins daily have you spoken to that backs up your claims? |

I would blame Al Gore.
That liberal dirt bag wanted everyone to share files accross a global network! |

I work with one fully exclusive niche site that's doing 1:173 the past 6 months on it's own targeted traffic. While doing at least 10 daily joins. |

It's so funny to see people still crying about the torrent crap. Youporn, torrent, tgp, free hosted galleries, porn boards and much more free shit all the sponsors give away day by day.....it's all the same !!!
|
I'm still amazed by everyone claiming torrents are the end of the world.
I make cash when people steal my content. Do you? |

Not sure where you buy your cars and meat but i think you got this ass about face ??? |
Here's a question on the rise of torrents...how many of them are also popular because their surfers are underage? How many are broke? So, even if they wanted to, they couldn't buy a membership?
How many customers are we really losing and how many are people who wouldn't/couldn't be customers anyways? |
Paul ,it has nothing to do with the way the customer is treated. It has to do with people think stealing on the internet is ok because for the most part its without consequences.
They wont shoplift in a store but download movies, songs, software it's ok its on the net and its free. You cant compete with free sorry.I dont care if you tucked the customer in everynight. If he can get it for free free wins. |

You're taking me up on points that I'm not arguing with. All I'm reiterating is exaclty what you've said above: People have been stealing content for as long as there has been content. You can accept that as red, and recoupe as much as you can, or you can run around in a flap and hope that it will do something. At the end of the day, I know where I'd prefer to be |
Torrent technology is great. Its a nice way to share data.
I can understand how those who do not understand why torrent should be allowed get their panties wet when the word "torrent" comes out - but as it is, torrents are great. Just because someone uploaded a blowjob vid doesnt mean torrents are bad. |
