merging two blogs: google?
I have two blogs that I want to merge into one, but I am wondering about the ramifications with google. I have one on an .info domain and it is represented in google results pretty well in some keywords, but I want to take all of the blog posts from it and merge it into my other .com domain blog that I have, and I will put the .info domain on the same host as the .com and just redirect it
will I run into any penalties when google notices "duplicate content" what will google think of redirected referrals should I go to the trouble of redirecting every single blog page google keyword hit to the specific page in the new domain, or is google just going to de-index those good keywords anyways? any thoughts on merging two blogs from anyone that has done it? ..... should I just merge the .info blog into the .com and leave both running and let google sort that out? I want to have the info domain eventually direct straight to my .com blog anyways, but I hate to lose all my good spots in the se |
no one here has done this before?

Do the blogs follow the same linking structure? Will you be mergin posts into the same categories?
Just 301 the old domain to the new site. Go through your website logs to see which sections of the old site gain the most search engine traffic and use htaccess to again 301 permanent redirect the old urls to the new location. Read this blog post here for all the info you need: http://www.seobook.com/archives/002343.shtml |
