Joe Francis is disappointed with Playboy founder Hugh Hefner

"GIRLS Gone Wild" tycoon Joe Francis is disappointed with Playboy founder Hugh Hefner for failing to support him as he rots behind bars on what he claims are trumped-up charges of using underage girls in a sexual performance.
"Hugh Hefner was arrested in 1963 for a similar offense and pursued by law enforcement for decades. It's sad how quickly he forgets," Francis told Page Six from the Washoe County Jail in Reno, Nev. "What I am going through now is exactly what Hugh Hefner went though, and what Larry Flynt went through, and I will prevail, because I've done nothing wrong." Francis, 34, has been jailed since April, when a judge found him in contempt for failing to reach a settlement with two 17-year-old girls videotaped in a shower during Spring Break 2003 in Panama City, Fla. Francis wasn't behind the camera; a 30-year-old producer was. Both girls lied on camera and showed fake IDs. While Hefner has cast himself over the years as a firm defender of the First Amendment, he distanced himself on View the full story |

What Hugh Hefner does and what Joe Francis do are two TOTALLY different things.
One is done in a professional environment, with sober and straight headed participants. The other is done with drunken and drugged college boneheads (who just happen to hand out with people that are underaged). Guess which is which? :error |

Damn, Joe has been in their for a long time.

While Hefner has cast himself over the years as a firm defender of the First Amendment, he distanced himself on CNN's "Larry King Live" in May when King asked him about Francis.
"I'm not a fan," said Hefner, 81, "because I think it's [exploitative], and I don't think he's a very nice guy." When asked if Francis was going beyond what Playboy does, Hefner replied: "I don't see any parallels . . . What sets the magazine apart is it really is a lifestyle publication, you know, with good fiction and good articles . . . It doesn't have much to do with what he's doing." Yet Playboy was accused of the identical crime in lawsuits filed by five high-school girls who participated in a wet-T-shirt contest during Spring Break 2001 in Daytona Beach, Fla. The underage teens ended up in a video marketed as "Playboy Exposed: All American Girls." According to a lawyer who repped one of the girls, the cases against Playboy were quietly settled out of court. Francis, 34, still faces 40 years if convicted on four felony counts. After he was jailed for contempt, he was busted for possession of contraband - sleeping pills - in his pockets when he surrendered. Francis also faces tax-evasion charges. |

Joe Francis is a druggie and sees no difference between underaged girls and legal for his porn.

Joe Francis is an ego maniac who would be lucky to shine Hef's shoes. No comparison between those two men.
	 |

The the hell does he need Hefner's help for. Francis, should have tens of millions of his own money to fight his own case.
While crybaby Joe thinks it is "exactly" the same, GGW films girls who are drunk in most cases and pays them with a T-shirt. Husler, does professional model shoots with models who are paid well. Maybe Joe should learn how to settle out of court. |

Joe didnt do shit wrong in this case, the girls showed fake IDs and lied. Joe wasnt even behind the cam. Get the fuck outta here with em BS charges

What is even more sick is that the courts are silently encouraging this behavior and encouraged settlements and the like. |

Fact is he chose to ignore the 2257 guidelines and now he is paying the price.
He's been sitting in that Reno jail for so long because he knows that the second this current case is settled and he is released, he will be brought up on the tax evasion charges (which means he will be sent to a FEDERAL prison to await trial). He's putting that off for as long as possible praying that it will give his lawyer enough time to think of something that will get him out of this mess and that ain't gonna happen. |

You'd think with his money, he'd beable to buy his way out?
Is he currently serving a sentence? If not, then why is no bail set?? |

And maby he should be asking these types of girls for THREE pieces of ID instead of one. |

Isn't he actually in jail on contempt charges?
	 |

 Wow, what a mess!

Its like everytime I look at the news this guys is in there. Joe you where a smart guy for what you did and how you did it. Be smart one more time and stop getting in trouble. You have a multi million dollar empire to look after.

Nevermind - seems he served 5 weeks in FL for the contempt charges and the NV stuff is the tax evasion.

Hef said the key word here "exploitative". What Joe does is exploits drunken college girls....how many of those girls would be posing if they were sober?

Lots of "Hefs" girls have regretted it and said they just did it for the money because they had no options. Not to mention many girls find it some sort of twisted status symbol now almost. Then one must wonder how many of "Hefs" girls who appeared in many of the Wet T contests and other side shows beyond playboy magazine would of done it if they to had not knocked a few back. Anyways come on, if you show up at a hosted party by GGW and you are a chick with a no host bar. What do you really expect they may want from you? |

How many girls support a drug habit by being content? Stop with the hypocrisy people. |

Thank you. Way too much hate-orade in this thread based on ignorance or perhaps something more sinister. |

Comparing himself to Hef and Flynt and getting busted for contempt of court?
Seems like the kid's got some ego issues. :2 cents: |

FREE JOE FRANCIS! The Footage he is in Jail for was not shot by Joe and the model's used Fake ID's on his producer during the shoot. |

Oh... Well in that case LOCK UP JOE FRANCIS! |

Hef could have been a little more charitable.
Joe did some foolish things, but don't kick a guy when he is down. It could be any one of us... |

Know nothing about Francis (other than press reports) and that he is in a jail cell for contempt of court.
If the press bullshit is correct (and they may be miles from any truth) - the guy is off the planet. Instead of whining about Heffner and Flynt, it may be a clue to address his own problems re contempt of court and take action to remedy this. |

my guess is 0$ your right it could be any of us, and none of us would get any help from hef either..:winkwink: :2 cents: |
