Mattell recalls 9mln toys
http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/08/14/recall/index.html
If anyone has kids, might want to look at Mattel's recall site just in case. The owner of the chinese manufacturer already committed suicide over the weekend saying their estimated losses are $30mln. :helpme |
I had just watched something on the news about that.

MSNBC.. WTF!? "Ya know, if China were to revalue it?s currency or China is to start making say, toys that don?t have lead in them or food that isn?t poisonous, their costs of production are going to go up and that means prices at Wal-Mart here in the United States are going to go up too. So, I would say China is our greatest friend right now, they?re keeping prices low and they?re keeping the prices for mortgages low, too.? :error |
I haven't read about this yet on the papers.
Where the hell am I? |
As an analyst was saying in a news interview. The reason why manufacturers have moved production to China is because there is less regulation there. That cuts costs (or increases profits, whichever way one wants to see it). Less regulation means potentially more dangerous products. These problems will continue to crop up (as they have in foods and numerous other products we get from China) because China lacks any oversight or regulatory bodies. The only way to change this is for American consumers to force companies to check their imported products before putting them in stores.
