Alienq's tip of the day for fukcen noobs.

Ever forget how to spell something? Not sure?

Here is a neat cheat way of doing things if you very lazy.

Use Teh Google. Type in the word the way you think it might be spelled hit submit and almost 100% of the time the part that reads

"Did you mean: ECSTASY"

Will have the correct spelling:)

End tip of the day.

yeah... I do that with locations now and then... or brand names.

"Lake Titicaca" or what have you....

But for words, I prefer to use http://dictionary.com

wow you're ahead of your time.

1) That's not the way it works. Yes, in many cases it will give the correct spelling but that's not the intention - If your search turns up relatively few results, Google simply tries to find something similarly spelled that you may be looking for that has more results.

2) Type "noob" for example. It's not a word, and yet Google doesn't suggest an alternative. Why not? See #1 ... plus there are so many children out there that still use this term, it has ended up on a lot of web pages. Like this one.

Now for the kicker of this lesson...

Google treats typos as terms, umm with results.

Doctor Dre 08-13-2007 03:11 AM

I use this all the time too ;)

Sarah_Jayne 08-13-2007 03:28 AM

I used to use google like that all the time. However, when FireFox introduced spell check as you go it became my spelling crutch.

Vick! 08-13-2007 06:17 AM

I use this already. Does it make me noob?

Jace 08-13-2007 06:18 AM

Would have been a lot more convincing if you wouldn't have misspelled a word in the thread title.
