Sure its enough as long as you plan on updating soon and often. if its part of a network then it its a definate yes.

Not really, in today's market i would look for something like 20-30 with weekly updates and putting some thought into those first few shot into something new ie. something no one has done. (like the dare ring)

i've seen sites with 6 scenes each - but they were a network and updated regularly. if you have just one site with 15 scenes and don't plan to update don't count on a good members retention

15 to use to launch yes, you will need many more for updates. you dont want to have to rely on shooting a new scene every week.

If you charge $5.99 a month for the membership....

i've seen it work - with less than 15 scenes. those sites have now more than 60 or 70 scenes each - but they started also with 6 each and are updated weekly (not the ones i've been talking about in my first post)

well the content won't be exclusive...i just wanna make my a paysite to send my teen/hardcore traffic to....but i don't have the money or time to go shoot exclusive yet....would that be futile?

you'd be amazed how many sites have less than that and haven't updated in months, years, or ever. Not that I'm encouraging that.

15 NON exclusive scenes is not nearly enough IMO. I'd be really pissed if I paid for this.

Maybe try joining an AVS/AVN or something.

some sites may have 15 long scenes but the stuff is hot, innovative, unique... and not only exclusive, but custom and reality like

an example that comes to my head is www.darering.com they rake it up with like less than 15 movies but it's high quality and people seem to love it

I've seen sites with way less scenes but 15 could be a good starting point if you have more stuff in the works.

You can only have that many scences if you play on updating often, and have something that keeps those ... lol suckers in, if you don't plan on updating often then I say 30 to start with and update every 2 weeks.

and with this business 2 weeks is enough time for them members to go some where else.

It totally depends on your niche, if it's something rare or unusual, 15 scenes are well enough and members will stay and patiently wait for updates.

If it's "mainstream porn", I'd start with the 15 scenes and update often, begin building in house traffic. Before you start an affiliate program or invest big in marketing, your members area should already be MUCH bigger. Nothing bad with trying, testing with your own traffic first.

And obviously if you'd start with 15 make sure to give the surfers some previews of future updates as teasers, otherwise you most likely won't see them rebill...

YES you can and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Some of the top sites opened with less than that.

Having said that, you NEED to update and it would be better if you were part of a network with more content.

i think it all depends on what kind of porn it is. i started my newest site with 4. but there was nothing like it out there so it was cool.

why waste your traffic then? i would just send it somewhere else. exploitedteens.com is pretty much guranteed to convert teen hardcore traffic. theres some other good teen sites out there too.

the owner posts here sometimes, a few months back said they were doing 100 sales a day - pretty new site I think. They do a reality style truth or dare thing. Genius idea.

anyway... if you're planning on putting up 15 crappy non exclusive scenes that are like 15-20 minutes each then you're ripping your members off. I'd say if it's not even exclusive it's a joke and you should definitely tell potential members what they're getting.

But maybe you have some primo stuff, I don't know.

Start it up with 15 scenes at a low price, like $14.99/month. Add a new scene per week, plus filler photo galleries (the kind you get for $10/set) 2-3 times a week. Once you're up to 30 scenes, boost the price up to $24.99/month.

It's enough to open a paysite. To retain a member that is a big question. Think about it though people are paying money to get a DVD that has only at times 5-6 scenes on it. If your looking to build members that rebill at a good % you need to update.

15-20 sets, 25-30mins each is enough to open a paysite. Less sets if it's a super niche specific one, or one with no comp. Then you need more sets for updates, twice a week or whatever and you should be apples.

amazing responses in this thread from affiliates that have never opened their own site or been inside some major programs sites

I know of 5 major programs off the top of my head right now that have less than 15 videos in their members areas...but their tours kick ass and they convert like crazy.....some started with 5 videos and update maybe once or twice every 3 months

I would never do that personally, but it is WAY more common than you all think

I have been inside members areas that were 100% upsells....you basically get the surfer to PAY for more pay options...LOL

nice....i don't plan on being a dick about it...but that's pretty much what i want to do....have a great tour designed and use non exlcusive content...but ill update regularly and work on getting some exclusive in the mean time...
