Question to the Germans

any idea if a foreigner can open a PO Box at your post office? (without giving any particular reason obviously)

speaking about PO Boxes, how much does it cost (ok, its not that important) and is it done instantly, like I walk in to some random post office in Berlin, give them my ID, fill in some document, pay 50 euros or whatever and they give me the keys?

Gute idee!
I don't really know about that. All I know is that it cost like 15 Euro a year. I had a po box too. If americans can set one up, don't know!
Just call them up

Hmm, his nick is polish_aristocrat and he wants to go to Berlin himself to open one... Yeah, good guess, he's probably American :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

ok seems like i dont need to call Deutsche Post :(

apparently it's not allowed for foreigners to open such po boxes there

there are some other services which you can send your mail to, for instance
http://www.yourcityoffice.com/services.php

but in their case they offer mail forwarding and im pretty sure you can't go there visit them and pick up your mail by yourself from their boxes...

bump

I *may* need a po box, virtual ofice address in Berlin for a short time period (not longer than 3 months)

the key would be that I should be the one picking up the correspondence after it arrives

even better option would be if they could accept Fedex but well I know this can't be doable since a fedex package needs my signature and there's no way around it.... (?)

anyway, this thread isn't popular, looks like all the Germans are drinking beer

there could be a commision should someone come up with an appropriate solution that I would make use of...

Postzustellungsaufträge, Briefsendungen mit der Zusatzleistung „Eigenhändig“,
Pakete, Express-Sendungen, großformatige Bücher- und Warensendungen,
Päckchen und Infopost Schwer (einschl. Kataloge) werden unter der
Hausanschrift zugestellt.

All official letters like those from courts, parcels, large packages won´t be delivered to a PO box, so you have to provide the Deutsche Post with an existing address in Germany.

i guess i can get fedex to berlin to fede'x office and pick it up from there (?)
