How much change do you carry around?

Err I usually have $200 on me but I rarely need it. What about you?

Spunky 08-11-2007 12:48 PM

Change as in coins? zero

edgeprod 08-11-2007 12:49 PM

I leave it on the counter for the next guy, if I have coins -- I can't stand them. Same thing with $1's, unless they'll change them into $5's or $10's for me (which I then turn into $20's) .. they take up space.

I use plastic for *everything* over $10, which is most of the things I buy -- I rarely find myself getting a pack of gum or anything like that.

Cash-money, usually in the ballpark of $200 like you, in case of emergencies. About $80 in the "money fold" part of the wallet, and $100-$150 tucked behind my driver's license.

Is this a "whose wallet to steal at the next show" thread? :1orglaugh

polish_aristocrat 08-11-2007 12:52 PM

haha man wtf? I was just thinking about starting a similar thread today, but somehow didn't care enough to ask that

But I was rather wondering if there are some people here who prefer to use cash in general rather than plastic (maybe in Europe more than in the US though)

who 08-11-2007 01:12 PM

I meant cash... heh

Ah. In that case it's usually around $100 to $150 for me.

Loose change though, maybe $5 - $10 since our 1's and 2's are coins. You never know when you'll need to hit the car wash. :D

Casa Nova 08-11-2007 01:21 PM

i keep $20-$40 in my wallet I have no need for more, the rest is plastic.

$400-$500, I do all my transactions in cash and I hate to feel low.

Pay for every transaction with twenties, save the fives and tens for tipping in restaurants. The ones go in the "trash money" side of my wallet with my receipts, every so often when it gets too thick I pull them all out and give them to the girlfriend. (She usually tries to do a lap dance at this point. :winkwink:)

Pennies, nickels, dimes, they go in a tip jar or change dish at the point of sale; if none, bottom of pocket with the quarters. Dump the pockets every night, I dunno what happens to the hard money after that. (I suspect my girlfriend is having an affair with the CoinStar machine, but I have no proof.)

Works for me, I sure don't miss the days I lived off plastic. I spend less and feel richer!

Aquarius 08-11-2007 04:58 PM

Not that much, about 40-50 bucks.

cashbot 08-11-2007 05:48 PM

Watch out for Airek - he likes to give enemas to his aging parents

WEGCash Robert 08-11-2007 08:48 PM

squizzel 08-11-2007 11:59 PM

$1k but not everyone is as balla as me.

Horny Dude 08-12-2007 12:06 AM

I rarely have more then $20 on me. I use debit card for everything. Unless I know I'm going to need more then I don't carry it.

Oracle Porn 08-12-2007 12:18 AM

Roald 08-12-2007 06:58 AM

hm 32 euro cents, 2 dollar bills and some foodstamps.

I do see some plastic though

MikeVega 08-12-2007 07:05 AM

I hardly ever carry over $100 on me unless I'm going out to dinner or somewhere i know i need cash for. I carry a Visa debt card attached to a separate account that i keep about $1k of play money in. if i need cash i just use the debt card .

With the chance of being robbed, or lost somewhere or even.... counterfeits... there's plenty that can go wrong with cash as well.

At least plastic comes with insurance or pin codes.
And if you pass off counterfeit cash without even realizing it, you're the one the law will look at.

Anyone that can either rob or trick me with counterfeit cash and get away with fucking deserves it :winkwink:

It's way less likely to happen than atm's not working, damaged/unreadable
cards, cards getting skimmed, etc, etc.

:2 cents:

Xxxcalibur 08-12-2007 11:12 AM

$20-40, the rest is plastic

Clark Miller 08-12-2007 11:29 AM

Just activated new plastic today. That's bad enough. Cash doesn't stick around, maybe $20 to $50.

mattz 08-12-2007 11:35 AM

Cash mostly since im always taking 300 out of the atm from epass daily, dont like to keep the money in there so I always have a lot of cash on me or at the house

Antonio 08-12-2007 01:18 PM

most of the time I carry about $200.00 or more which is way to much for a country where a gorgeous hooker costs 20-30 bucks

salesman 08-12-2007 01:34 PM

usually I take only 30 bucks with me becasue I know that when I get home I still have the same amount in my pocket.

I don't carry any cash around except for coffee (Tim Horton's!) So usually $40 for the week or so... never much more.

Dagwolf 08-12-2007 06:40 PM

It depends...

you're taking out $300 every single day from epassporte?
what are you doing with all that cash then?
putting it in the bank (would be pointless and strange since you live in the US) or just spending it all?
