Google to penalize for link exchanges (Linkex etc.)

So it's now policy that paid links and irrelevant linking schemes will get you penalized:

No surprise. I thought they did that a while ago.

crockett 08-10-2007 09:26 PM

Penalizing for link trades is BS. Even m,ainstream legit sites trade links with other sites of their niches. Pretty stupid IMO..

Anyone want to venture how long that page has been on google?

Vick! 08-10-2007 10:26 PM

Its old but still retard.

Who on earth can tell that what links are exchange for the same to manipulate PR and what links are exchanged for traffic and shit.

Google must have recruited some dick headed fuckers lately.

oh well, it's their rules...

imo, this is just a way to "weed out" se spammers and sites that have no reason to have rankings for certain keywords. As long as you continue to practice "white hat" seo strategy, you probably have no issues and will be fine.

they post this up to scare a lot of people into going the right route and removing the trash of their site. I dont blame them, half the results are either click arbitrage attempts, or just plain spam.

Keep your site relevant to the term(s) you are optimizing for, and link to and get linked from relevant sites and you should have no problems. Of course all this is just my own :2 cents:

TheJimmy 08-11-2007 12:24 AM

yawn........

KimJI 08-11-2007 12:37 AM

This mean people will do like exchanges like
Site A ownd by X -> Site B ownd by Y
Site B ownd by Y -> Site C ownd by X on a DIFFERENT server

Unless you're smart about doing this, you can get penalized too.

Lol, dont believe any of that crap. According to those guidelines, 90% of all sites on the internet would be penalized.

I would guess 2004 after they bought Blogger in 2003 and discovered the cross-linking flaws in their own algorithms.

Agreed. It is indeed not what you know, it's who in Google you blow.

nation-x 08-11-2007 06:26 AM
