Don't ever use FedEx

FedEx offers the worst service possible.. So I have a delivery and my building has a security door. I put a sign on the front door, telling the driver to come to the side of the building and beep his horn.

Yesterday the driver ignores the sign, leaves a door tag. So I figure no biggie. Today I see the truck drive by at 11:30am.. So I figure he must be coming back. I check the site and driver claims no one was home @ 1:30pm.

No door tag nothing. So I called up FedEx they claim they can't get in touch with the driver. So he will have to drop it off tomorrow.

At this time I'm extremely pissed, I went off on the bitch on the phone.. It's fucking 2007 and they have no contact with their drivers.. Yea right.. I wonder how he was able to tell them I supposedly wasn't home.

Bunch of fucking BS, it's always nothing but trouble with FeEx, meanwhile UPS never seems to have any troubles.

TubeTitans_SusieQ 08-10-2007 10:49 AM

Sorry for your luck hun, I hate that , I usually do DHL anyways

Big_Red 08-10-2007 10:50 AM

Yep, we have had similiar situations. UPS is top notch in my book.

k0nr4d 08-10-2007 10:52 AM

I had DHL leave an LCD screen on my doorstep for 8 hours while i was not home once.

The guy signed 'DOOR' on the pad.

Tom_PM 08-10-2007 10:57 AM

I know someone who had the US MAIL drive ONTO HER LAWN and honk her horn until she went outside and got her freaking package from the driver who was sitting on her fat ass in the truck!

Now what in the HELL could be a possible explanation for that? Extreme lazyness and nothing else. What driver can't get off their butt to DELIVER THE PACKAGE to the doorstep 10 feet away? She has a 1/4 mile driveway with a turnaround, and this driver pulled onto the lawn by the front walkway and leaned on the horn. This was over a year ago and it still pisses me off thinking about how I would have gone apeshit if it were me....

DaddyHalbucks 08-10-2007 10:58 AM

Yea, it happens. The drivers are often in such a rush that they sacrifice service.

D 08-10-2007 10:59 AM

We send out packages via FedEx regularly.

This has encouraged me to send out a query... making sure everyone we send those packages to have no issues with the receipt.

If they do, we'll give another service a try. :thumbsup

LilBro 08-10-2007 11:00 AM

i ship alot and have found over the years FEDEX to be the best and easiest to get money back if theres a problem....good luck with your future shipments

DHL are worse.

FedEx rocks where I live. And my FedEx guy is super hot.

Most of the chickies in my neighborhood keep each other informed about when we have a package coming. :1orglaugh

Tom_PM 08-10-2007 11:12 AM

Definitely boils down to the local office with this sort of thing. And with pizza :P

Lol this happened to my girlfriend once and they claimed they were there with the package, but no answer at the door.

But she has security cameras and a really long driveway - so the fedex truck stops at the end of the driveway for about 30 seconds and then simply drives away. Maybe the guy thought nobody was home. They didn't leave a door sticker or anything.

So she calls them out, referencing the video.... yeah they don't really care lol.

the Shemp 08-10-2007 11:29 AM

if FEDEX was 99.5% perfect, you would still have 25,000 screwups every day...

royaljelly2 08-10-2007 11:37 AM

I haven't had much trouble with them. But there will always be issues with a courier company. Just the way it is. It's not fool proof you know?

rapmaster 08-10-2007 11:38 AM

I still use fedex all the time... but the fedex kinkos stores are horrible, absolutely hate them.

ztik 08-10-2007 11:43 AM

For me its the exact opposite

UPS sucks FedEX is top notch

I really wish I had a camera with me the time I was at the FedEx store in Indiana, and the UPS truck came driving up to drop packages off.

I would not have believed it if I did not see it myself.

RawAlex 08-10-2007 12:19 PM

I have never had any issues with fedex, used them for years. I suspect it may help that I am about 1.5 miles from the depot, and when I get a door card I just go pick the package up at the depot, no biggie.

"go to the side and beep"... yeah, like the driver has time. He probably looked at the sign and started to laugh. I think you will find that you will have the same issues with any service. Why not just get a remote doorbell or something so that they can ring the door and you can come down?

I had a USPS carrier that stopped delivering mail to me all of a sudden. The reason? She was afraid of a dog that I did not own.

Why did she think I had a dog?

I gave up on Fedex when they left an envelope of papers literally submerged in a puddle outside my door after a storm.

pornguy 08-10-2007 12:24 PM

i prefer UPS as well.

LiveDose 08-10-2007 01:17 PM

I always use FexEx or DHL. UPS has actually lost several packages we've shipped on different occassions.

Trax 08-10-2007 03:23 PM

DHL only for me
best possible experience
if i cant get dhl i use ups
fedex can suck my dick

WHile i dont believe they didnt have contact with him. I think its a requirement to have a cellphone on route... but as far as him letting them know "you werent home" is the giant PDA... he hits the button and it goes into their system.

UPS has issues.... but id rather UPS over FedEx Anyday

This ia an everyday occurance, they may be rivals but they work together a lot.
I worked with a driver during a christmas rush and we got fedex packages from everyone. I found it discouraging even during my short seasonal span, but its like the people that do it think.... its all one service or something....

ID be pissed if I had to peddle their shit everyday... but it goes both ways...

The one thing I want to know is... Omaha Steaks and Dell.... they have GOT to have an exclusive shipping contract with UPS.... 4 packages a day per truck from each company minimum.... Thats a shit load of steaks and pixels...

Gary_TLX 08-10-2007 04:17 PM

I use FedEx several times a week for almost two years and not a single issue yet. They are very professional and provide awesome customer service. It really boils down to their local office, I think.

ManOfBusiness 08-10-2007 04:18 PM

yup they can be bad. but so can every company as well

paprika 08-10-2007 04:24 PM

no issue with them yet

Steve Awesome 08-10-2007 04:29 PM

I've had the same experience only with UPS. The hours for the UPS pick-up facility sucks balls, too. Closing at 5 PM? WTF?

SykkBoy 08-10-2007 04:35 PM

I've had the opposite experience
fedex has been pretty good and UPS has left me with ulcers...

The drivers for these companies have a service time goal that they need to hit. In the case of Fedex, if you are on a "before 9am" or "before 10:30" run, they have everything in their truck to deliver before that time. That may mean that they have on average 2 minutes to spend on your delivery.

They don't have time to play games. They go to the door, the ring the doorbell or knock. No answer, they door card it.

Now, if your driver came the first time and realized that the door was useless (no bell, security door, no way to ring) he probably did a straight drive past the next time knowing that it would be a waste of time. His bad, that is for sure. But not unusual in the service industry these days.

Really, it is your responsbility to make your address "deliverable" or just ask for hold at depot and go pick it up.

Me and my fed ex, UPS, and USPS all have a very good relationship. They all know me and follow my assorted instructions. If I must sign they also know to stick around a few minutes and to call the house so I can get out of bed and get to the door due to my dissability. Otherwise they know exactly where to leave packages and the like.

However my damn newspaper delivery person's substitute sucks royal ass. Despite me having a orange box for the paper supplied by the paper company, nearly every time the regular driver takes a day off I do not get my paper.

Oh and I always give my delivery people a christmass end of the year bonus or gift.

F-U-Jimmy 08-10-2007 07:51 PM

I guess it depends what you are mailing , but i have had a ton of stuff smashed by UPS. Even their drivers tell me its impossible to claim from them as they always say it was not packed correctly. Ill stick with USPS unless its porn...

Always check the packages before accepting and if they just drop it off, take pics of any visable box damages before opening. I have never had an issue collecting money for damages before. Unless of course the sender was to cheap to pay for the actual value of the package which is just fucking stupid.

Oh totally man, I went off on her when she tried to tell me they don't have contact with the drivers. lol I told this is 2007 and you going to tell me a fortune 500 company can't contact it's employees while they are at work.

That's when I got pissed off because I knew she out right lied to me at that point. After that I was no longer and friendly customer and I doubt I'll do biz with them again.

That is their problem, if they don't leave their self enough time to make their deliveries, then that means they are doing it wrong. Oh he did drive right bye I watched him do it, that's why I was pissed. How the hell is he to know if the door was propped open or unlocked.

I can get over a idiot driver, but to get lied to on the phone as well with no attempt at all to help me make a better arraignments.. Na they are useless to me and will never use them again.
