if you log in to your domain parking provider and see that you made a few hundred $$$ or few k $$$$ with your parked domains yesterday, then it's a sign that you own a nice portfolio of premium domain names with direct navigation traffic, which can be treated similarly to real estate.

But chaces are that if you would be such a lucky individual, you would be lying on a tropical island right now with two topless 19 year old hotties serving you exotic drinks, instead of reading this thread....

So this thread is to remind all the other domain wannabees - that your domain names are most likely wortheless.

Don't ask "what's the best place to sell a domain" because if you own good domains you regularly get offers for them.

Don't ask "what's the best place to get an appraisal" because auto-appraisals are wortheless and the paid appraisals... are wortheless as well.

You might be lucky to register a domain for $8 and sell for $30, for $50 or even for $500 once in a year but that doesn't mean that you're really into the domain game. You are quite likely to waste time & money by registering hundreds of domain names, renewing them every year and hoping someone will buy them one day. So if you want to find a new source of income, because TGP submitting isn't cutting it anymore, you'd better search for something else than "the domain game".

Interesting.........I basically inherited all of my domain names and I have gotten multiple offers on two of them, but won't sell, so I suppose that they are worth something. I have NO dilusions of trying the domain game.

Well technically you don't really own physical real estate either. I'm not going to go into details but check it out, there are loopholes to where the government can take your land and you get nothing.

Regardless of what you think of people selling domains, if there wasn't a demand for them domainers wouldn't exist. You really think the only reason people buy names is because they were scammed into it? Give me a break

If the internet "went away" there would be a lot more people in trouble than just people who own valuable domains. A good chunk of the economy relies on the internet.

There are some things to consider on this thread... how can one thing be "the" answer? I hadn't considered just sitting on a domain, or only buying and selling domains.

I suppose if a thing works, use it.

I will give an honest answer to this.

In past 4 years i've bought a small number of premium adult domain names, doing sometimes quite a hard job in contacting the owner, convincing him to sell etc. Often where most of guys would give up, I was persistant because I had limited funds and with a few exceptions I was buying the names below their market value. And well, we know that the market value of adult domains went up in last 3 years anyway.

I don't really brag about them, but well its true that i have better adult names than 99% of GFY'ers.. (but they are worth still less than 5% of what the big guys like webfather or slavik have) but well that doesnt really mean anything, a guy can have some blog on a shitty domain and still earn more money than my domains do, same for a hard-working galery submitter etc. The good thing with the domains is the passive income though. Im not naming any of these names, because i care about privacy and im not selling them anyway (well unless someone wants to overpay and pay 10 years income lol).
