holy fuck kid go pack to your poooter games already

that post made me think, how many here actually think that if you have a high post count, or an early join date, you mean more to the industry and are more valuable to this community then someone who was registered yesterday with 120 posts?

personally i think neither mean shit, some asshole idiots post here who have been here since 2001 with 15k posts, and then theres some big whales who have registered just this year with 10 posts and get alot of work done...

I truly dont think it matters much. I reg'd in 03 and only have about 500 posts. I just dont sit here all day posting nonsense to get my PC up.

After Shock Media 08-09-2007 09:34 PM

I do put some weight into the join date, typically but not always an early join date is less likely to fuck you over a few bucks.

Spunky 08-09-2007 09:35 PM

It means nothing but you post on a BBS a lot.it's the people who judge you based on it that have a problem.if somebody who annoys you that much...ignore feature

SomeCreep 08-09-2007 09:41 PM

I dont care. I dont even care whether or not I even care that I dont care.

Kelli58 08-09-2007 09:47 PM

You can't always judge a person by their join date or pc though. I've been in this business since August of 1996 and I only got around to joining this site in 2006.

Funny story though ... recently a guy posted asking for advice and I gave him some. Someone else thanked me and said it was good advice but that we should wait for some of the more "experienced" webmasters to respond before deciding on what to do and went on to describe the more experienced webmaster as those who have a much high post count. In another thread I read from that same guy how he has been around the block cause he's been in the adult industry over a year now. A WHOLE YEAR? LOL Ahh yes, the experience that whole year has given him. :P

Any who, post count and join dates are always truly reflective of the person but as someone else pointed out it does help build credibility at times when considering financial transactions.

Holly 08-09-2007 09:49 PM

Post count and join date- No.

Net worth and cock size- Yes.

amen man, i always see people saying "wtf, you have 3 posts and joined last week, what do you know about this industry? go back to school kid!"

post count, and reg date on GFY doesn't decide your knowledge

Looks to the left... I feel out of place...

Violetta 08-09-2007 11:11 PM

Someone with a joindate in 2001-2002-2003 (and 2004), has been around for a while, and that join date is a proof of that. I agree that high postcount doesnt mean SHIT in the industry, but it means some HERE on GFY. Not much, but some.

And the sig-value is higher, the more posts I have wohooo

mailman 08-09-2007 11:13 PM

Join Date... only because my post count is low.. lol

reptile 08-09-2007 11:16 PM

yeah! dont care at all!

zeruel 08-09-2007 11:51 PM

nah dah...

cashbot 08-09-2007 11:53 PM

I'd say that most people with super high post counts probably don't make that much in the industry...

dig420 08-10-2007 12:02 AM

not even a tiny little bit.

8 Characters 08-10-2007 12:23 AM

Lol if it meant something then I'd have a million posts and I would've joined in 1980.

Pornwolf 08-10-2007 12:26 AM

Ya never know who knows what.

CyberHustler 08-10-2007 12:29 AM

I certainly put more emphasis on join date than post count. I for one would have loved to have joined this site earlier on, because it would not only give me a tiny bit more respect (I'd hope), but it'd also mean I understood stuff like "BP4L" and all the other memes that I'm too new to get.

To take your post literally, either one could be taken as a negative.

Someone who just joined yesterday and has 120 posts obviously has nothing going on that requires their attention other than posting here, which in and of itself is not a valid qualification to be a "webmaster". Someone with a huge postcount and an old join date is that same person, just been here longer.

I post here for shits and giggles occasionally and for business most often. I think my post count reflects that in relationship to my join date. So in a sense - yeah, postcount and join date are a factor, but that doesn't mean someone who just now joined and has one post didn't just say something that could change the way I look at something.

On the flipside, though - postcount and join date are very useful when determining the extent of a particular poster's ass-hattery. I.E.: a douchebag with 80k posts might very well be a bigger douchebag than the dickhead with 120 posts.

Mr 120 can still turn it around, Mr 80k is probably molded into his ways and has no hope.

Minte 08-10-2007 07:09 AM

I prefer dealing with people who have longevity in any business. I do pay attention to join dates.

Post count on a BBS is meaningless. It takes no effort at all to type a couple of hundred insignificant words every day.

dakota1358 08-10-2007 10:50 AM

I have a join date of June 2002 on one board with a post count of 297 on here my join date is October 2005 with a little over 1900 all it means is I post more on this board than some others.Join dates don't mean anything

i do agree with that statement, but what makes a join date prove that they have been in the biz that long and arnt just someone whos here for the would you hit it, and see sig threads? just because someone registered last year, doesn't make them a n00b to the biz... just means they are a n00b to GFY itself... :2 cents:

It doesn't prove anything. It's only an indicator. I know a lot of webmasters that started when I did, that never post on the boards. If some of them did happen to join today odds are you'd tell within a few posts that they weren't new to the business.

Gfy is more of a playground these days for many. It's the biggest board, but not the first or only board.

You tell that by paying attention who what they're saying and how they say it. That's the most important indicator of whether someone is a buffoon or someone I might want to do business with.
