When is your flight to Florida again?

D 08-09-2007 08:10 AM

Yeah... same dealio here.

Woke up at 1AM to the bed undulating... felt like we were on a waterbed, and someone had just belly-flopped at the foot... subsided rather quickly, though, so I went back to sleep - no sense in pondering the will of the gods. :winkwink:

We have not had any good shakes down here lately. :(

Being from Florida, and also being so far south of where they actually are, the little shakes we get here are fun. :)

4.2 isn't jack. You are just paranoid.

What are you going to do when we have a real quake?

oh i know what a good one is. i went through loma prieta way back in the bay area that collapsed the bridges and shit in oakland and such. that thing damn near destroyed my apt and everything in it. i know a big one. its just unsettling feeling the 4.5s and shit cuz those are the precursor to the big mothers. i've also seen my share of hurricanes living in florida. hurricane andrew to be exact blew away my air force base while i sat under an ammo bunker in a humvee watching 16 million dollar aircrafts blow down the runway. i particularly don't like natural disasters when i'm asleep.

One could say the small ones are precursors or they are relieving stress to delay the inevitable, because the "big one" will come, and it will make the Northridge and Loma Prieta quakes seem like 4.5's.

It doesn't matter where you live, Mother Nature will fuck with you somehow. Personally, I think the occasional quake is a great trade off from ice storms, hurricanes, tornadoes or 116 degree summers.

Same here, was almost out when that thing hit. Gave me flashbacks to the Northridge quake, sucked being in Chatsworth at the time that thing hit!

There's earthquakes all the time. 100+ in Cali and Nevada in the last week.

http://quake.usgs.gov/recenteqs/

The one last night is the bigger of the blue boxes on that map.

The plates are constantly moving... and the majority of quakes are really too small to feel.

Casa Nova 08-09-2007 12:58 PM

Earthquakes scare the hell out of me... though I've never felt one. I would hate to live in cali for that reason alone.

TubeTitans_SusieQ 08-09-2007 01:01 PM

LoL and to think I want to Move to Cali.....well beats the Hurricanes we have here i suppose....

earthquake sissy!

HeadPimp 08-09-2007 02:07 PM

I will stick with the Northwest. Almost no chance of a natural disaster.

Sure we have a plate out there that moves every once in a while, but not often. And we have a couple volcanoes, but as long as you aren't stupid enough to live under them they aren't that big a deal.

Just very calm up here. Could be all the weed they grow/smoke up in these parts.

If there's one thing that SoCal could use, it's about 10-20% less people - at least on the highways.
