abandoned mental asylums are so creepy - there's a great website out there dedicated to exploring them and photographing them - a sub-niche of what quantum-x does.

Romeo GaySearch4Sex 08-09-2007 12:55 AM

thats a huge building... why arent they developing it into something or tearing it down?

tical 08-09-2007 01:00 AM

they just let you in? or do you find your own way in?

[ScreaM] 08-09-2007 01:02 AM

Matt 26z 08-09-2007 02:17 AM

This would be kind of crazy..... but I think it would be cool to clean up an office on the top floor and break into the building daily to work there.

I grew up on LI. I am pretty sure it was closed down after a fire a long time ago. It's a very cool building but creepy driving by it at night :1orglaugh

if you grew up on li you should check outat website lioddities

Pilforgod 08-09-2007 11:51 AM

I grew up 10 minutes from there, it wasn't closed because of a fire. It was closed in the late 80's or early 90's I forget when exactly just because of financial reasons.

The cool thing it's not just that ONE building, it was pretty much a self sustained little town on it's own. I've been down there a ton of times and it's VERY creepy. Most of it is fenced off, but you can see through the windows that they just left the beds and such laying around in dissaray. I so would not want to go there at night, and I haven't =)

pornvue 08-09-2007 12:17 PM

that is spooky...kinda reminds me of Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital

Thats something that I have never understood myself. They build a massive structure at the cost of millions. And then one day, leave. With most of the things still in it to rot.

Sell the equipment re build the building or knock it down, and use the property.

uno 08-09-2007 12:43 PM

I've been there about a dozen times. Do yourself a favor and bring a respirator if you go down into the tunnel system. The tall building has a great view of NYC from the roof, but its a climb to get all the way up there.

opacity.us has some good shots as well as go.to/kppc and darkpassage.com

It's probably haunted. End up building houses on it like Poltergiest and then skeletons will end up bursting up through peoples front lawns and shit. I wouldn't go near it. Although, I wouldn't mind going up there at night to see if anything happens.

TubeTitans_SusieQ 08-09-2007 12:52 PM

thats really creepy...you should pitch a little tent and spend a night or 2 lol

Last time I was there, the power station was still active. Really old school green screened computers would actually boot up. Tons of chemicals laying around, filters, all kinds of stuff. It's best to take the tunnels from building to building. Again, wear a respirator. You might be able to find a tunnel map online.

Brandon99 08-09-2007 05:22 PM

Something about that place reminds of that movie Phantasm.

Everyone who goes there wears surgical masks.
Makes sense mold growing plus it is an old building which = asbestos

Bring a backup light, and a backup of the backup. I don't really do UE but I often wander around in near complete darkness, so I usually bring 2 or 3 torches (different brands), plus there's a light on my mobile phone, and if I'm really stuck I can buzz my camera flash repeatedly. :thumbsup

HAPPYPEEKERS 08-10-2007 12:11 AM

amazing..i would love to visit it!
