This is sort of a replay of last season, the finalists are the two extremes. One side is "professional" who has done his time in the kitchen, and on the other side is "amateur" that has done her time as a nanny.

If you are observant about the way these shows are edited, you can usually pick the finalists out by the second or third episode. They give camera time and a little more background to those who will move ahead, and gloss over those who died off.

It's well done, but you now they know the results before they start, which really allows them to work the story arcs over the entire run of the series.
