US passport needed for travel to Canada (vancouver)?
 

I have mine, but my friend was never able to get his. We're supposed to be heading out on Thursday...

Never had problems entering/leaving Mexico w/o a passport & I read that the passport requirement for Mex starts on Jan 1, 2008...

Anyone here know what the scoop is w/ Canada?

You will be able to get into Canada, but I dont think you will be alowed back into the US without it.

I am pretty sure flying out of mexico a passport is required too.

You can drive across the boarder with just government id and a birth cert.

your friend is screwed - and like Jeffrey said it's not Canada's fault, it's getting back into the US without a passport that's the problem.

He said he'll fly to Seattle and then drive in/out if he can use his gov id + birth cert...
