Anyone drive a moped or motorcycle?
I live in Southern California and I am considering buying a motorcycle to get to work, and I was wondering if anyone knew the documentation processes to go through to drive it legally. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

go take the written test at the dmv
take the MSF course (search for it in google) take the MSF card to the dmv, get your license it really is that simple |
Ha, I had a moped when I was like 13 in NJ.
I had a motor cycle license in CA many years ago. Back then the process was you take the written test and you get a permit, and then in two months or so you go and take the driving test. The driving test was pretty easy, drive around some cones, stop the bike, park it; Really easy. In AZ I took the written test, and then took a two day class just to make sure i was up to speed on riding a bike. The two day class - highly reocmended if you've never really driven a bike on a regular basis - is highly recomended. The class counted as passing the driving test. Having a bike in Calfiornia in the traffic is a great way to avoid traffic. Besides being able to ride inbetween lanes, it's much easier to cruise through traffic, and you can also use the car pool lane. |
Lane splitting is great for So Cal freeways. Google for MSF california - take a class, its a 2 and a half day class thats pretty simple to pass. Once you pass it you will get a peice of paper to take to the DMV. Then you will be asked to take the written test and once you pass that you will get the new license with a M class on there in a few weeks.
