How much would you pay to set up a WAP site?
 

So, I have a ballpark idea what I would pay to set up just the design and billing and CMS and hosting for a traditional web site. There is a range, but I have a sense what that range is.

But I've heard some crazy numbers for WAP sites. What seems like a reasonable ballpark figure for basic infrastructure (not counting content, only counting hosting setup and not later ongoing fees, and only counting billing setup but not later ongoing carrier or billing fees.)

What do you all think is a reasonable ballpark figure to spend on setting up a WAP site?

Guesstimate at least 5 to 10k

It depends on what you are trying to sell Amelia.

Is it porn? Is even a tit showing? If so you can count out all North American and many European carriers.

If that's the case you will be back to credit cards which don't really work as well for the important markets on a wap site.

But, if you aren't doing porn, you can have it done for cheaper than $5k for sure. Shoot me an ICQ and I'll point you in the right direction.

I kind of think there is probably more dough in sexy than sexual, at least for the time being in the mobile market, although I'm really just guessing. And I could go either way. I'm not even sure I would bother anymore... It wont be very long before all mobiles will be able to easily view content designed for the average PC. Most fairly modern phones already can.

WAP is dead. WAP2.0 is less dead, but still quickly becoming unnecessary. Devices are being refactored to meet the web... not the other way around. The web isnt refactoring itself to come to small devices.
