Nikon or Canon?

Which do you prefer and why?

Fap 08-02-2007 01:53 PM

I've only had canon's

aico 08-02-2007 01:53 PM

I Prefer the one that matches the lenses I already own.

Yeah.. it's amazing how owning 50K in lenses makes a switchover a whole lot less tempting... especially when you know that if Nikon comes out with something wonderful... Canon won't be far behind... .and vice versa.

At the upper level, they all work well and deliver like they should. Find what you like and go with it.

Adam_Gamma 08-02-2007 02:34 PM

I prefer Canon because they are a better value IMHO.
Compare the Nikon D80 with the Canon 400D. Nikon will feel more sturdy in your hands and some might argue that the glass is better but Canon is hella cheap and surpasses it in many features... :2 cents: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond80/

tony286 08-02-2007 03:15 PM

If I could do it again I would of went with nikon, they have much better glass.

Evil E 08-02-2007 03:29 PM

I'm a Canon man Myself.

latinasojourn 08-02-2007 03:34 PM

both are good, depends on your current lens inventory.

but if you need full frame (so you can use wide angle effectively for gonzo work) canon is the only choice (5d, 1ds, 1dsmkII) or discontinued kodak body with nikon lens.

HotChocolate 08-02-2007 04:13 PM

Which glass would you recommend for shooting porn?

Brother Bilo 08-02-2007 04:26 PM

I've had a Nikon for a couple years now, and I love it. The only problem I've had with it is that the lens doesn't hold up when the camera is dropped on the ground from about 6 ft.

shekinah 08-02-2007 05:06 PM

I'm not familiar with Nikon so Canon for sure!:)

thesuspectdevice 08-02-2007 11:08 PM

i use Nikon

jeffrey 08-02-2007 11:16 PM

I use a Nikon, and really like it.

tenderobject 08-02-2007 11:20 PM

my first camera was canon 350d. dunno im not happy with it then i switched to nikon d80 and i love it! i think im fine with nikon..

Servhot 08-03-2007 12:56 AM

If I had to start over, I would go for the new Canon's, but as said before, if you already have your equipment, you wouldn't switch over. So I stay on Nikon

4Pics 08-03-2007 01:06 AM

I have a Rebel XT it's awesome!

Doctor Dre 08-03-2007 01:07 AM

I'm no expert but both seems to be really competitive between each other, I think it's only a matter of preference for some features at some point.

The lighting meassurment of the Canons is a bit better with the new digital ones as at Nikkon. Even this is not so much any more with the D200

rowan 08-03-2007 01:14 AM

I'm a Canon man but for most general uses either will probably do fine. Both are reputable and quality brands. Your question is not an easy one since it goes beyond technical preferences, some people are very passionate about their choice of brands...

zand_stein 08-03-2007 01:44 AM

For me its much accesible to use the canon.......
but still its up to you where you are comfortable to use,.....

M0nk 08-03-2007 02:09 AM

Nikon the d70 is just amazing!

Ed / CzCash 08-03-2007 02:11 AM

Canon. Because I use Nikon and change it for Canon.

Canon glass 24 to 70mm F2.8 excellent lens:thumbsup

rvincent 08-03-2007 02:25 AM

Canon here!

I actually just bought a 20mm f/1.8 lens for it yesterday. I haven't used it much yet, but I already love it :-)

basschick 08-03-2007 02:32 AM

canon for me. we were using a 20D for our shoots, and i've just gotten a 30D. even the canon kit lens (18-55mm f/3.5-5.6) does fine for porn - it may not be good enough to shoot a high end magazine cover, but pics look good at any size you would use on the net.

if you don't need the wide angle, the canon 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 is nice, inexpensive and small enough to be comfortable on a rebel and does fine on a 20D or 30D, too.

Zorgman 08-03-2007 05:34 AM

I went with a Nikon D50. I got the lower range of the market it but have since used the D200 and love it. The weight and feel fits my big hands perfectly. The canon just seems hard to hold.

Adriano 08-03-2007 05:38 AM

Canon of course

jonesonyou 08-03-2007 05:40 AM

for slr nikon. for personal ie the elph style you have to go with canon. I have a nikon cool pix and I hate it.

perfectodollars-gabrio 08-03-2007 05:46 AM

its like asking blondes vs. brunettes... one of those tricky questions... nikon anyway

perfectodollars-gabrio 08-03-2007 05:47 AM

ive tried the canon 400D and it looks too platic and thin, like a toy in my opinion - takes good photos tho - i love my D70s since it's as tough as a rock, you can smash it on the ground and it'll still work, on the other hand, shoot 5 hours straight and your arms will hurt a little... that's the trade off ;-)

pornvue 08-03-2007 07:31 AM

NIkon..it has good quality, sturdy :thumbsup

antwan 08-03-2007 07:36 AM

I have a Canon 30D and I love it.

alby_persignup 08-03-2007 07:42 AM

canon for me!

sinclair 08-03-2007 07:53 AM

Have never used Canon as I am invested in Nikon glass. When I was coming up all the photogs raved about Nikon glass so it was an obvious choice for me.

Ketchup 08-03-2007 08:02 AM

I have a Canon 20D, Rebel XT and S45 and love them all......but I hear a lot of people going with Nikon slr's these days......but I don't really think it matters they are all really good camera's but if you don't know what you are doing it won't matter :1orglaugh

Oh but for small point and shoots....the canon's are awesome they are built like tanks and last forever.

JP-pornshooter 08-03-2007 10:34 AM

i started with a fuji s2 dslr (which at that time was rated very highly) and it only took nikon glass, i still use the fuji but my main camera is now a nikon d2x.

kevin_nivek 08-03-2007 11:06 AM

Canon - 1D Mark II - 24-70mm F2.8 and 16-35mm F2.8 and 70-200mm 2.8

Ivana Fukalot 08-03-2007 12:13 PM

I like Canon Mark 2 too
