I was suprised to see how people run porn sites, and their familys dont know...so what do you tell them you do for a living

I told my religiously devout catholic family, they were actually ok with it, just asked that I think about doing something else.

Yeah Moms Hate it. Dads and Dads friends want free passwords. LoL

I tell them I work at MCDonalds. They are SO proud of me. :)

I had no choice but to tell my wife as the computer is in our living room., I had to hide all my affliate pics as my 18 year old daughter used the computer a lot..but she knows now, All of my brothers know, my dad is dead and my mom just turns a blind eye to it.. but they all know what i do...Thank God:)

My family knows.. but when I need to talk to others that I do not think will understand I just say I do internet marketing and some video production for commercial services.

Its so damm stupid that people have to hide what they do for a living, all because its not a mainstream job. A lot of people have such a narrow way of thinking, I say if its legal and its making you money what the hell, its still a job and its better than being on social security

Everyone except my aunt knows, she thinks we do something with the internet which isnt too far off. My father didnt want her to know so I respected it.

My family knows what I do and don't have a problem with it, My g/f's parents knew since the first day I met her and are fine with it.

Ok clarification, that's what I tell my catholic wife's family who live in South America.. I'm really open about that stuff, I talked about it with my Grandma all the time when she was still around. What's the big deal?

Family thinks i work in marketting, only my uncle knows what I really do.

Whole family knows except one churchlady aunt, she gets the same story as random strangers who ask what I do.

I always start vague: "I do internet stuff" or "I have an internet business." Vast majority of folks stop there.

Next step in response to "Oh really, tell me more?" type questions: "I build web pages that look good to the search engines and sell ad space on them. You know, like all those ads from Google that you see everywhere?"

I've only ever met like, three people who were genuinely interested enough to press pass that level of detail. And, in pretty much every case, they were genuinely interested, and cool enough to handle the rest of the truth, so they got it.

Yeah...I don't have that problem at all.......since my dad gave me my first domain and all of his support. Talk about stange family Biz???

well, since I'm mainly do text writing, I just tell them that I'm an online writer/publisher. they don't need to know for what industry ;)

It's no secret to anyone - why should it be? It can also be hard to hide when you have your odd days of fame in the media (where they always manage to misquote and get basic details wrong).

Flipside is, there is more biz activity not in the adult industry, but it's "adult" which seems to get more smiles :)
