New Goal going to drop 100lbs by end of Oct.
Got 3 months til we go away for our 8th anniversary. I think I can do it, needed a short term goal. Will do monthly weight ins to this thread.bookmark it :)
First weight in as of today Im 442.6. |
i can definitely help you reach your goals, hit me on icq and i will let you know about what i have..that im on myself. good luck
|
Good luck...my current weight is 258 down from 325 :)
|
Good luck, wish you well.
|
Good luck...
|
Never knew you were that big. Good luck with your goal...it's a big one too!
|
442? That's death-bed size. I was overweight too so I know what it's like but it always amazes me how far people can slide.
Even if you don't do it in 3 months, you SHOULD try to drop about 200, anyway. |

Losing 100 lbs in 3 months is not healthy. just my opinion. Now the fact that you weigh 442 it will be easier to drop a 100lbs.. a more realistic goal is 60-75 lbs - if you lose too much too fast many things can go wrong. :2 cents: |

I've read stats saying that by drinking x amount of sodas a day you can add on another 5-15 pounds a year. Let's say you're 25, that could easily be 50 pounds by the time you're 30 if you're not doing something to maintain your current weight. Not addressing YOU specifically, just trying to answer how people allow themselves to slide. Now take a person who's drinking enough sodas to gain that 5-15 pounds a year, and is eating enough calories to gain an additional 5-15 pounds a year. That's 100 pounds by the time you're 35. You went from being 185, to 285 in just 10 short years. However the weight kind of sneaks up on you, much like many other things in life. That's kind of how I did it. My avg weight for most of my adult life was 175, and then boom I was 280, promised myself I would not get over 300, then bam, I was 325. Now back down to 258, and hoping to get below 200 before the years up. |
100 pounds in three months is very drastic and not a healthy rate. By all means you are doing the right thing deciding to take control. However, do it with realistic goals or you risk feeling let down and stopping.
Trust me, I am a big gal and I understand. I decided last year to take things seriously and I am so far down 50ish lbs. It is slow but for the first time I really feel it isn't coming back. |
If I lost 100 pounds I'd look like a chihuahua :P
|
Yea right. Good luck. You will drop a 100lbs of ding dongs in your shopping cart.
:1orglaugh |
seriously, how the fuck did you get that fat?
|
god damn, even dropping 100 lbs you'll still be a fat fuck.
|
100lbs in 3 months is doable, but NOT healthy at all....
|
I think GFY should sponsor a slimathon - lets face it - its there interest to keep us alive as long as possible....
|
Tony404,
Best of luck and JMO, I would strive for a lesser weight loss goal...more like 25 lbs every three months. Hey it took years to gain the weight, so take it off slowly to ensure the weight will stay off by learning new eating and exersising habits that become your way of lfe forever. I know it sounds dumb, but it works (the only problem it takes time) :) |
Good luck Tony! You have my support.
|
good luck to you :)
|
Best of luck!
|
It takes more like a year to lose that much weight and keep it off.
|
at that kind of weight i would hope you wouldnt stop at 100. 3 months seems way too fast too, thats a pound a day. im no dietitian but according to what ive read thats burning off 3500 calories more than what you eat in a day. i say as long as you're making progress you're good though.
i'm the total opposite. i have trouble gaining weight. i gained about 15 pounds in the last 3 months or so and my goal is to get above 200 pounds total then i'm going to try and get my body fat down. |
nice, i have lost 60 pounds myself since december
|
what Krosh said.. be careful - change lifestyle for good not just for the weight purposes..
slow and steady.. http://www.nbc.com/The_Biggest_Loser..._season2.shtml |
Suggestion:
What about you forget about time and change your eating/drinking habits for good. Then you commit to lifting weight 3-4 times a week and do cardio 3-4 times a week(about 45mins-1h per workout) . It will take care of itself. Time will go by pretty fast and you'll notice the results. The only catch is that you need to start doing it NOW and be consistent. Just a suggestion. |
You can do it..good luck Tony

Sorry that I even replied in this thread. You are a true idiot. Of course, you can shed pounds fast but can you get to the average obese person in the USA and mantian it? I doubt it :Oh crap And, if you had any selfworth you would do it for yourself and not here. |

Anyways, to lose 1 pound a day, you'd have to burn about 4000 calories more than you do now, daily... (How many calories do you ingest daily? How many calories do you burn now daily?) which I doubt you can do in any healthy fashion. Like someone wrote earlier in the thread... it would be more realistic to expect a 100 pounds weight loss in a year than 3 months. I would highly suggest you to consult a dietitian and trainer so that you stay healthy while you loose weight. They will be able to tell you exactly realistic numbers... etc I didn't mean to come off as an asshole but if you do something like that it would be better to be surrounded by professionals and that you have realistic goals. If you don't have enough money you could still subscribe to an online progam like the biggest loser club http://biggestloserclub.com/ Good luck. Don't forget to bump the thread in a month! |
What Good news, Tony!
I've been at the gym 6 days/week for a little while now. I've even got my son coming with me now. We do cardio 3x/week, and strength training 3x/week, alternating upper and lower body. |
Don't loose that much, just start loosing :)! All the best, Tony!

2lbs a week is about right, given Tony's size he'll probably lose faster initially, but he shouldn't really focus on just the numbers on the scale. When you start working out you add muscle, muscle weighs more than fat, so eventhough he's making improvements the scale might not reflect it. A little advice to you Tony, make sure you take your measurements, it's a good judge when the scale doesn't want to be kind. Get your % bodyfat taken, and as a side thing you should also take regular pictures of yourself...just for your own use to help you see the improvements. A dietitian and trainer is a good combo...you're a big guy and you need to be careful with how you start. Walking is definitely a good place to begin, low impact cardio, and resistance training the next step, and never breaking your routine. Once you get used to working out it becomes a habit and you can keep it. If you can't afford a trainer/dietitian you might want to read a book called Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle...it's a decent read and will get you on the right track. Best of luck to you Tony! Working out is the key...if you need some websites, reference material on working out just drop me an ICQ and I'll get you a list of good sites to read :) |
Good luck.
For the love of god, IF you drink pop/diet pop, please quit TODAY. 2 steps forward, 1 step back... |

possible to lose 100lbs at this starting weight, but will require extreme life style changes to keep it off.
1. everyone in the household needs to be on the program and share in the lifestyle change or you will not be successful. 2. eat for nutrition only and as close to raw foods as possible, no fast food, no "food" found in a box, start weaning yourself off salty foods, read all labels, and document everything you put in your mouth. you must count calories, keep a weight log, and take your pix nude every 3 weeks to see progress. 3. get rid of tv, or put treadmill or bowflex in front on tv and time your workout to your favorite program (bowflex is good because it is not noisy). 4. get mp3 player and headphones to make the monotony of daily workouts doable. 5. suggest going on atkins style diet first to lose weight fast and see results---it is very important to have positive reinforcement for yourself. 6. weigh yourself daily and keep a weight journal 7. occasionally you will binge especially if someone else in the house brings home a forbidden food---do not beat yourself up, just get back on the program in the morning. 8. try to eat small meals or healthy snacks, train yourself to eat at about 80% of satiation and then stop. achieve satiation with fiber, oatmeal, fruits and vegetables. do not become a rabbit, you will need some protein to keep hunger pangs away---go to costco and get whey protein (chocolate or vanilla is good and you can mix in blueberries, strawberries, etc) avoid refined sugars as much as possible. remember eat for nutrition not pleasure. find your pleasure in other aspects of your life, NOT food. 9. get on an exercise program that you can consistently do for at least 30 minutes a day---if you have to drive somewhere to exercise this is not the best plan. 10. limit breads, fill up on steamed veggies, some fish and chicken, limit all other meats. many other thoughts on this, but it will not be easy. it is a lifestyle thing and you must treat food like it is a drug and you are an addict, and understand that most eating in the western world is for comfort, not nutrition. good luck, you will probably fail statistically, but IF you do exactly as i suggest you will probably succeed. |

Don't try to lose 100 lbs. in just three months, or your skin is going to hanging off you, man! At your size you are probably going to have some pretty severe stretch marks and maybe excess skin even if you do it slowly. Lose weight slowly and steady, over a year or so with three or four days per week of weightlifting and two or three sessions of cardio and a very healthy diet.
Learn how to cook if you don't already. I'll give you some recipes if you like for my favorite healthy dishes |
whoa whoa whoa... 100lbs in 3 months is weak. I suggest gastric-bypass and you'll lose 200 in a month. ;)
I'm 6'5 and 218 - what's the correct height to weight ratio? |
Good luck with the weight loss.
I'm at 300 and want to go down to 230 in 6 months. |
second the Tom Venuto book...
100lbs in 3 months? thats a bit hardcore.. over a pound a day? I wish you the best, just don't kill yourself. |
